My room was dirty. Besides the stains on the curtains, walls, etc., my dust allergies flared up, so my eyes were the puffiest they've ever been! There is only one bath/free shower area, so men and women have to enter at different times. The times women can enter are not convenient. There are showers you can pay for - 200...

Place around here is so-called Shitamachi (Downtown, but it means differently from English) and it was good quiet to sleep. The room was small, but clean and nice Tatami. There were TV, fridge and enough outlets. 10 minutes walk from Minami-Senju Stn and it is a little far from central Tokyo.

I stayed for one night and I enjoyed it! The room is small but the futon was really comfortable. The shared bathroom was interesting, It was my first time and it was a pleasant experience. The water was really, really hot so be careful (I felt dizzy after taking the bath). The staff is nice and friendly!

Stayed for 3-4 nights in late March; room itself is fairly barebone - tv, aircond, fridge but important thing was it was clean. Outside the room on each level are toilets, wash basins and a small area providing hot water. Bathrooms are downstairs - there's a shower which you need pay for OR you can go to the main bath...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
