It is a very small hotel just a few minutes walking from the really big Ikebukuro station. Great bars, restaurants 7Eleven and other 24-7 shops nearby. Rooms are clean, small and simple with bed and a bathroom. We spent 8 nights in Tokyo, we mostly just crash at the place, had a shower, charged our phones and cameras and slept a few hours. If you are looking for a centrally located cheap hotel, this is your place. A few things I didn't like: the elevator wasn't working. No problem with that, but they were repairing it all days when we were there. This work started every morning around 8.00 with drilling, knocking and all kind of noise. Also, they never mentioned anywhere that they charge you an extra 5% fee if you pay with card. Kepp that in mind!
Basic Japanese "business" hotel - functional, not elegant. It's more Spartan than an American business hotel. There's no lobby to sit in, and the elevators are small. Rooms have a little space between the bed and the small bathroom. My room was a bit dated, but very clean. Rooms have tea kettles, and Wi-Fi. It suited my needs, because I was out sightseeing every day and just needed a place to 1) sleep 2) relax between sightseeing and dinner. It reminded me of the hotels near European train stations. They will hold luggage for you on your checkout day. It's less than a ten minute walk to Ikebukuro Station, IF you take the right exit (I recommend C6). (Side note - most Tokyo-area train stations are huge, and have multiple exits. Research the closest exit in advance, and look at the station map on the platform to find some navigation landmarks). It's down a quiet side street, away from the hustle and bustle. There are many amenities in the neighborhood, including department stores, 7/11, Family Mart, and both local and chain restaurants. Ask in advance about payment method. I was asked to pay in cash. Many smaller Japanese establishments do not accept credit cards. Other reviewers have reported they will accept credit cards but levy a fee. I would stay there again, because of price and convenience. If you're looking for better amenities, and more space, in a Tokyo-area hotel, you will likely have to spend more.…
Not a place I would go back to. Only plus was that it was walking distance from train station. Not very clean. If using credit card , an extra charge will be added. Restaurants and shops are near by . Price is cheap. Just don't expect too much.
Its a cheap hotel, so really did not expect too much from it. Few minutes walk from Ikebukuro station if you went out the correct exit. Staff is accommodating and we were able to leave our luggage before check-in and continue with our planned itinerary for the day. There is at least 10 or so steps of stairs in order for you to get to their front desk, which makes it difficult specially if you have big luggage. The rooms are small as expected but should be enough for 2 persons. Nothing much to say since what you see from the information that they give is what you get.
Everything is small. There is a lift (small ^^) and small stairs to reception. Not advisable for big luggage Kettle is provided. Wifi for me, works excellent but not for my friends. Perhaps there is some setting they need to re-configure. They allowed us to leave our luggage after checked out. They cleaned our room eventhough we did not ask for it :) Direction: You need to find exit c6 then just walk straight until you see ippondo drugs store. if u are unable to find exit c6, go to west gate until you see escalator to ground floor. dont take the escalator. on your left, walk straight until you see Tobu Hope signage. it would take you to exit c6
Centrally located in Ikebukuro. Small hotel. Basic facilities. En-suite. Comfortable beds. Clean. Affordable. Near Ikebukuro JR/Metro station. Fast check-in and check-out. Quiet. Wifi quite good. Value for money.
On the booking site it looked like a simple and clean Hotel, to spend a few days in Tokyo but nothing is so far from reality. The building is old, sloppy and dirty. Paying with a Credit Card you're asked of a 5% "tax" on the bill. Do yourself a gift and Stay away from this !
As with most things, you get what you pay for, this hotel is very well located, only a 10 minute walk from Ikebukuro station, however, rooms are very small as are the bathrooms, it is challenging to say the least to find decent accommodation for £50 per night in Tokyo, so it's probably best to budget upwards from this. This hotel is particularly bad if you get a room at the basement, as did the friends we were travelling with, all other rooms were booked, so they couldn't be moved. We got a room on the 4th floor and were only there one night, so did not mind too much. The rooms were clean, which is very important, but if you want any luxuries, book elsewhere, the rooms resembled a ship cabin.
Booked for 2 nights but changed to one. Very basic, absolutely tiny and stairs to get in that are narrow and difficult to get cases up. Tiny little reception which is a hole in the wall with little if any English spoken. Room was in basement, very small and dark, 2 beds squeezed in and a very small bathroom, so small unless your small yourself you will be bashing yourself against things to use it. One bed was comfy, the other rock hard. Quiet enough until the early am when builders opposite commenced work. Not too far from the station and amenities. Cheap and you get what you pay for. Ok if out exploring all day and just need a bed nor the eve!
I used a Commonwealth Travel Money card here which cost me a 5% surcharge. For six nights this added up. This is the reason I have given it 4 out of 5, not 5 out of 5. The rooms are pretty cute (and snug) but having said that I've been in smaller rooms. The neighbourhood is wonderful, it's very well lit and there are heaps of shops and laneways to explore. We felt very safe. McDonalds, Subway and KFC are near Ikebukuro station and a 7/11 is very close. Note that if you come back out of the street as if going to the station and make a right there is a bar with real penguins in it! It has 'The Bar in Which Penguins are Present' written on the side. Getting from Ikebukuro Station is challenging the first time, google map it first and make sure you go out the west exit or Exit C6, preferably C6.…
