My stay was short, just a few nights before traveling onward. I decided to pick a new hotel so I can experience new areas of Tokyo. I’ve been traveling to Tokyo since 2005 and always seem to stay in my comfort zone, so I decided to try Ikebukuro. After comparing various hotels, I chose Hotel Metropolitan because of its cost, location, ease of access, and overall peer reviews. Getting there was kind of stressful, but none of that was the hotels fault. Due to the late time of my arrival and some public transportation bus/shuttle routes being cancelled due to the pandemic, I had to adapt on the fly and make my way to the hotel. Once you get used to it, the hotel is very easy to find and many modes of transportation are available to from either airport. I eventually arrived and got checked in rather quickly by the efficient and polite staff. The room itself is very clean and cozy, as I’d expect for the rate. I’m not in my room much during the day so I don’t need a lot of space. However, I had two large pieces of luggage with me, and opening those in the room was difficult, given the size. Again, that’s to be expect in Japan, but take note if you are bringing lots of luggage. The restaurants/bars inside the hotel are great, especially the breakfast buffet. I don’t use the hotel restaurants too often as I like to explore and eat out, but they are pretty busy and seem very nice. Outside the hotel, there is a Family Mart, 7-11, and anything else you may need, within walking distance. The most impressive thing, on top of everything else listed, is the customer service. As busy as they are, they still manage to accommodate each guest, with politeness and a smile on their face. This means a lot to me because traveling can be stressful sometimes, and knowing the hotel staff has your back is important. Specifically, Yoshitake, who works the concierge desk, helped me multiple times. Whether it be belong me catch a taxi, printing out forms, finding an adapter for my laptop, or helping me find the fastest route to the airport, she specifically went out of her way to help me, and I’m very thankful for that. Hotel Metropolitan is highly recommended, give them a try if you are looking for a great place to stay in Ikebukuro.…
We love everything about this hotel. Specially the front desk staff who assist us. Very approachable and she even upgraded our room . So we decided to stay there again on the 4th of May. Our room is clean and very safe to go around . There is also a lot of sanitary stuffs. Me and my family were very happy and satisfied.
this was my first time visiting japan and i am really happy back then. this hotel surrounded by shopping center and convenient store, walk-able to ikebukuro train station. the best part was this hotel provides smartphone which you can use anywhere. for visitor who doesn't have internet connection, it is really helpful. not far from the hotel, there is mutekiya ramen, ramen stall that you must try. i was really enjoying my time staying in the hotel. in specific room and specific time, you are able to see mt. fuji
Great location in Tokyo. Close to the Ikebukuro train station that allowed us to hope on/off and get to various areas in Tokyo. Immense lobby/reception area. Efficient check in. A very good room in a large city. Reasonably priced, quiet, clean and fairly spacious. Excellent sleep for the 4 nights we were there.
This hotel is situated near the metro. Rooms are spacious with all facilities you need. Heated toilet seat, for example (which you don't need :)). Cleaning was superb, breakfast is enormous, and the staff is first class and as most japanese, very friendly. Shops in the lobby is a bit pricy, you rather buy your stuff elsewhere.
Excellent hotel with spectacular views from higher rooms. Breakfast a bit pricy but what you would expect from a grand hotel. Handy for exploring Tokyo. We used it as a base for exploring nearby sites.
First hotel on my first visit to Japan. Welcoming and understanding staff. A particular compliment to Bellboy Kim who was understanding, patient and not only delightful but also has helpfully annotated the local map with his personally recommended restaurants! Very useful. The hotel was clean, reasonably appointed, comfortable and my room and my family’s room had a nice view of Tokyo. Close to the train station with plenty of convenience stores/bakeries nearby.
We stayed in the superior room with queen size bed. The room size is slightly bigger than a standard hotel room in Tokyo. Room is comfortable but not great. One side of the bed is against the wall and this may affect some people who are used to have space on the side of the bed. There is no English movie channel. So if you want some entertainment at night, you will need to find other options. The best feature of this hotel is its location. Its a short walk to the Ikebukuro Train Station. The area around the train station is highly commercial with many shops and restaurants. So its very convenient if you need to go to other districts in Tokyo or Japan, and need to so some shopping. The airport luminsine bus also stops at this hotel so that is another convenient feature. I would consider staying in this hotel again if i go to Tokyo again.…
We got great Mt Fuji view (make sure to ask for such rooms at the top floor while checking in). Overall excellent service. Except for the service at the OVEST Restaurant, with the menus quite confusing. The prices on the menu displayed on the wall before entering the restaurant and the menu inside are different. Our dinner took so long to arrive on our table. We only wanted a quick dinner, so ordered the Grilled chicken (not the full a la carte meal) as we were very tired from a full day trip to Mt Fuji. Besides, we've just finished a 20 days cruise with Diamond Princess with so much food available and we just wanted a light meal for this dinner. It was quite a surprised when we got the bill, and also we were charged two beers instead of one beer (corrected after checking with the staff)..…
This is my second stay at this hotel. The reason I chosen is their room could view Mt Fuji and the airport limousine stops at hotel. Also, it is close to JR or subway with convenience store nearby. The room I booked was small double for 2 adults and it’s good enough.
