I've stayed twice and both experiences were great. It's an unexpensive and really well located ryokan. The place is quiet, the rooms are comfortable, and the showers and toilets are always clean. The staff is very helpful.

We stayed in Kimi for 4 nights after reading its glowing reviews... even my own brother raved about it. The first two nights were less than satisfactory, as we were given a room on the 5th floor and it smelled overwhelmingly of mould. And I don't mean it was a little stinky... I'm talking full on olfactory assault as soon...

I actually picked this place to stay because I wanted to stay at a Ryokan regardless of price or location. It just so happened that Kimi Ryokan was in a very convenient area with a nice price to go along with it. Japan raised their taxes making the price of this place go up a bit but for where it...

Stayed here for 2 non consecutive nights. This is a good example of Ryokan for those traveling in Tokyo. Don't compare with the expensive ryokan with all the meal provided. This is different, no meal at all. We love the japannese bath tub, just like private onsen, very relaxing, you must try this. Go to the rooftop, just to see...

I "splurged" myself with staying last night at KIMI Ryokan after 2 weeks of backpacking in Japan. Before I had stayed at 2 hostels in Tokyo close to Asakusa station on the other side of the city. Asakusa is great for the "old" feeling of Tokyo but Ikebukuro station, where KIMI is located is way better location for exploring Rappongi,...

We stayed in the Ikebukuro area. We loved it because it's busy enough but not touristy. Ikebukuro is very convenient for travel on the train with the connecting lines including the Yamanote line. We stayed at Kimi Ryokan which is about 7 minutes walk from the train station. The staff here are very friendly and speak English very well. The...

When I return to Tokyo, I will definitely stay here again. The location was fantastic - close to shops, right next to the restaurant district of Ikebukuro, and only a few minutes walk to the subway. The rooms were clean and quiet. The staff were extra friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. We had 3 kids in...

This is a great place to stay as a base in Tokyo. The staff are really helpful and rooms are just what you need for a holiday. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is very close to train station, makes it very easy to get around all parts of the city. VERY well priced!!

Booking was easy via the web and no booking fee required. Being our first visit to Japan, the hotel was easy to find with the map provided in the website. The room was naturally small but the toilets were easily accessible. Facility at the common kitchen was superb with green tea and hot/cold water dispenser , microwave oven etc. The...

I spent one week in kimi ryokan in march, and I really liked the place and the staff. The staff speaks english and is always helpful. The room was a bit cold because the cold air from outside came in through the window even if it was closed, but there was climatisation so I could make it warm in a...

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
