The hotel has a very central location. The Yamanote line is a 10 minutes walk away. I think the hotel affords a lot of comfort and relaxing for couples and families but business travelers as well.. In the same building you can find a mall with local and international restaurants and the most shops you may wish to find. Staff is friendly , helpful and for sure courteous. Rooms are excellent, clean and convenient.
I chose this property based on its proximity to the JR Ikebukuro station, and WOW, it is literally just a few fee away from the north exit. Yes, there are stairs to negotiate, from the station, and at the hotel, but I travel lightly! Sun City has a small, but classy lobby, with a microwave for guests. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and speak some English. There is a restaurant on site, but we did not use it this time. We checked in early, and they brought our luggage to our room before we came back to check in! GREAT SERVICE! However, the BEST thing I found about this hotel is the large size of the rooms. We had a twin room, which also included a small wardrobe, a futon, a small table, nightstand, refrigerator, and hot pot. I am VERY PLEASED with this property and will definitely stay here again. I love the Ikebukuro neighborhood for the shopping, food, and entertainment.…
The room is clean and the staff are friendly. There is free WIFI in the room. The hotel is located right in front of JR Ikebukuro North exit. (Note that there are no escalators or lifts at this exit, so if you are traveling with luggages via JR, you may want to take the West exit instead.) There's a 24hr izakaya at the basement that serves the best sunagimos. There are numerous combinis and loads of good food in the vicinity. Take the tunnel on the left of the hotel that goes under the train lines to cross over to the East exit side where Otome road and Sunshine 60 dori are. Shopping and food are within easy reach.
The main reason why I booked this hotel is: it's very close to the train station yet it is quite cheap. The hotel is clean and the staff at reception can speak a few English words. I'm glad I stayed here!
I stayed in this hotel for one night. It is conveniently located only a few minutes away from the East Exit of ever-crowded Ikebukuro Station. If you know the language and can ask people for directions you will find the way very easily. The stuff were very friendly. I even got an upgrade from the panorama-single-bed room to the double-bed-room on the 36th floor, to be able to see the waking up city in the morning. The hotel should be commented for signing guests on a commitment for not smoking in the rooms. As such my room, I guess also the others, was free of tobacco-odor. The room itself was very clean and comfortable with TV channels in several languages. There was also an air purifier in the room. Since there were no instructions in other languages, you have to know Japanese in order to know how to manipulate the air purifier effectively. No trouble with WIFI. Yet, the room was too hot during the night. As there was no way to control the temperature in the room I sweated all night. Complaining on the situation at the reception desk in the morning I was told, oddly enough, that the hotel controls the temperature in each and every room from a central control room. Upon a complain from an individual guest, the temperature in a specific room can be adjusted. I guess it would have been more simple and logic to enable the guests to control the temperature with a related remote controller in the room, rather than forcing them to run down and up in the elevators to ask to decrees or increase the temperature as soon as it becomes colder or warmer in the rooms. It should be noted that this is the situation even though the hotel have done recently major renovations in the rooms. As for breakfast and other gastronomical matters, there is a huge shopping mall on the firsts floors of the hotel, and one can find numerous coffee shops and restaurants to grab any food one likes. Also, the convenient store on the first floor of the hotel opens all night, offering a wide selection of food and beverages.…
Chose this hotel as it was recommended by a female friend. Really excellent!! Do not expect a five star hotel, but service and amenities are really more than sufficient. Stayed for 5 nights in a double room 14 sq m (facing the street, not the railway) and it was quite spacious. Tokyo was really cold when I went (below 10 degrees), so I was glad there was a heater! The nearest exit is the North Exit, which has no escalator, but it's quite a manageable staircase (my luggage was around 14kg). Otherwise, exit via the West Exit next to TOBU department store, there is an upriding escalator there. Walking to Hotel Sun City from there takes less than 5mins. I was early for check in, so I left my luggage with them at the reception, and when I returned in the afternoon, my luggage had been properly moved to my room. For non smokers, remember to double check after you get your key that they assigned a non-smoking room to you, as I was initially given a smoking one even though I booked a non smoking room online. The room key is a normal key, but it has to be returned to the front reception whenever you leave the hotel. For security purpose I guess. I was quite impressed that my room had a Powercube (the red one) hehe. And there are so many restaurants and shops nearby, you will never starve or need to walk far for basic necessities. Ikebukuro is a maze, but there are two 7-Eleven and two Family Mart less than 5mins away, really easy to find. TV (tokyo channels), fridge, electric jug, shower, WIFI, all worked well. Room was very clean! The staff seem to understand English, but I cannot confirm as I used Japanese with them. The hotel provides laundry service, tell them you want "cleaningu". I got my clothes back within the day, fees were reasonable (this was an additional charge, separate from room fee). My only small complaint is that there is no full length mirror in the room :( sob no OOTD lol…
This hotel has a good location. It is just 1 minute away from the north exit of the ikebukuro Station!! However, the nearest railway exit (20A) has no elevator. Overall, the price is reasonable. The room is clean and the Wi-Fi connectivity is good.
Perfectly adequate for a solo traveller or a couple on budget. The 12m2 room that I stayed in (room style sb5) was extremely clean, cleverly laid out, and shops/restos are just a stone's away. It mainly caters for the local crowd but the front desk staff all spoke passable English. Recommended and will consider returning.
I had a heavy luggage and being close to the exit is of utmost importance. Literally less than 1 min away from the exit. It was also located in a relatively lively area which was important for solo female traveller. The room had a smoky smell though. Also, there is a elevator up from another exit. Good to find out which one else it will be lugging of luggage up exit 20A =/
This hotel is just outside north exit. Very convenient location. It's kind of old and a bit noisy because of trains. But these are not unbearable and its price is good for just one person. No Wifi, only cable internet connection. Will recommend for solo traveler who just goes back to hotel for shower and sleep (spends most time outside) and will stay here on my next visit.
