This was the first hotel we stayed at during our trip to japan, and I would say this was an excellent choice. There was a great restaurant on the second floor that provided an excellent breakfast buffet, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms and facilities were also excellent, and the shower in particular was great for a satisfying cleanse! There are plenty of other activities within the vicinity as well as easy access to the metro system. Altogether I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel
This is another hotel we stayed at Ikebukuro during this same trip in Japan. We are not very much impressed except that it is located at a good location very close to the JR station. For the room size, it is slightly bigger than the other one we stayed (which is just across the street; and we spent couple of nights in each of these hotels) but for the overall room facilities or the hardwares you like to call, including TV, Wi-Fi and AC etc we would prefer the other one. Although it looks like to me the room has been renovated, the facilities in the room are still old including a small and thick TV which is just slightly bigger than that of the inflight tv screen in the economy class. The TV is more like a product of the 90s I would say and it is not functioning quite properly when we have to point the remote control to another machine (kind of like a vcr) and press the button hard for several times before the TV can be turned on. Even the hotel staff have tried several times before he’s able to turn it on. Can’t really believe this would happen in Japan in 2020!! Other than the TV, the Wi-Fi is in fact a disaster! Signal is very weak in the room and it can’t be connected to internet 99% of the time. And the staff suggested us not to use it as there are just too many guests using it at the same time and they have no way to improve it. Seriously? For the AC, well...I guess it may be common that in most of the old(er) hotels, it is a centralized AC system, meaning that you can’t adjust the room temperate even with the AC control in your room. It’s winter time in japan but it is very warm. The room is so stuffy so hot that when we asked for comment, the hotel staff could only suggest us to turn off the AC and open the windows. Lucky that the windows could be opened for bit, but in fact, it would mean very noisy during the night when you will hear clearly people yelling out on the street or fire trunk passing by etc. In fact it makes not much different even with the windows closed as the windows are not sound-proofed kind. So yes, let’s forget about it but to open some windows for some fresh air. With the noise from outside, we both couldn’t have some good quality sleep during the stay. These are the three things I’d like to share with people reading this post. There are ofcourse some other areas, like the space design issue, that need further improvement; but I guess I can bear with it lol. Credit goes to the fact that the room is although small, we could still get our two suitcases opened in full inside it. So will I consider this hotel again? Yes, if it is cheaper than the other one across the street. …
We didn't like the first place we had reserved in Ikebukuro, so we were stumbling around trying to find another place to stay. Read other reviews and decided to give this place a try. We were very happy with our stay! Yes, the rooms are small, but they're really functional. The toilets are state of the art Japanese (if you know what I mean). The shower was maybe the best shower I've ever experienced in a hotel of any size. The water pressure was amazing and I just loved it. We tried the breakfast and decided that although it was a great variety, we were better off just getting something light and easy from Becker's down the street at the Ikebukuro train station. But, it is a great spread with both Japanese and Western-style offerings. The hotel does have a really good espresso/coffee machine that's absolutely free for guests in the Lobby. We made "Americanos" every morning to tide us over until we went out. Also, Ikebukuro is a great neighborhood to be based in for Tokyo. It's not touristy at all - almost all locals - and the station offers direct service to almost every neighborhood. With one transfer, you can be anywhere in the city. Everyone spoke English well enough at the front desk, but one of the hotel employees was perfectly bilingual which was a big help.…
Room on the small side but fitted our needs but bed were so hard and uncomfortable I had to ask for extra quilts for each bed to try make it softer Pillows were also hard I noticed in one pillow the back of it had what was small pebbles in it. Breakfast mostly soups and salads I had scrambled eggs and toast would of been nice if they had bacon. Lunch menu if great. Staff fantastic room well stocked and cleaned each day
Like the rest of the ‘b’ chain of hotels you pretty well know what to expect before you arrive. Coffee in the foyer, good staff and appointments in the room that are similar to the rest. On the plus side the shower in our room was a massage shower and was brilliant. On the minus side was a fairly hard bed, single glazing to the street window(glass was thick but not thick enough) and a centrally controlled A/C system that tends to please few. Our room was generally too warm and we had no way of turning up the cooling(there is a control pad in the room but it has no effect). Location a few minutes from Ikebukuro station was a bonus. If you stay, venture into the narrow streets behind the hotel, it’s fascinating.
By reading previous reviews, we thought this hotel had an Onsen but it does not! Location of The Tokyo B Ikebukro was great being only a few minutes walk away from rail station. Lots of shops and eateries on the doorstep. We booked a double and a single room which were small, beds pushed up against the walls, no wardrobe or drawers just 2 coat pegs with 4 hangers. Single room had a few shelves though, double only had 1. Tea making facilities provided. Bathroom was good with lovely shower. Double room was at front of hotel facing a main road which was noisy plus we had noisy neighbours (not good soundproofing), single room looked onto a brick wall. The restaurant Salvatour Cuomo was OK but staff were stern and unwelcoming, on some busy days they were slow to replenish missing items, ie; orange juice, ham, salmon, cutlery, bowls, cups which we had to ask for. Repeatedly had to search for clean cups without tea stains. They closed off the area with window seats with chairs for no apparent reason and no explanation given. One night I went to restaurant to ask to borrow a teaspoon but abruptly told "No". Went and asked at reception, they did give me a spoon but then whilst waiting for the lift in a busy lobby, receptionist chased after me asking which room I was in. I told her and she asked "Are you sure?". I found the whole situation ridiculous and embarrassing. I would not stay here again!…
Staff and services - Ok Room - Ok Clean- Ok. They have a note to inform you that you can skip the clean of towel for a day, for ecological/enviromantal reasons by letting in a certain manner the towels, but they still clean. So..more than Ok. Place -Ok Transport - very near Shopping, restaurants, grocery, electronics, entertainment, etc, all near.
If you’re not familiar with Tokyo, Ikebukuro is NOT in a central location for tourists. Because it’s not in the centre, the room rates are generally much more affordable. Hotel is about 5 mins walk away once you take the East exit. Will I stay in Ikebukuro again? Perhaps not. I’ll rather stay somewhere central in Shibuya or Shinjuku and where there are nearby pick up points for the airport limo bus. The nearest airport limo pick up point for this hotel is 15 mins walk away at Prince Sunshine hotel - it will be a struggle if you have lots of luggage. Room wise - it’s comfortable. Room size is small which is a standard for Tokyo.
The hotel was clean, front desk was helpful, they supplied maps and directions when needed. I stayed in the doubles room, there was adequate space. After coming back and getting a singles room it was a bit of a shock, very tight but adequate. The bed was a bit squeaky in the single room. There were toothbrush and paste, comb, razors, wash towels, tea, kettle, writing paper etc. included for your convenience. The showers had three different spray settling, chose one or use all three!! I had two breakfasts included, I could only use one of the days (due to travel plans) and the front desk arranged for me to use the breakfast on another date. The breakfast was very interesting with a variety of breakfast and non breakfast choices. Very relaxed. I would eat there again! The hotel was conveniently located, easy walk from the Ikebukuro station. I would stay there again.…
I stayed here for a couple of nights as part of a group tour. Tokyo hotels always feel pretty small but this one was honestly too small for me and my bag alone (large backpack). Having said that, all the facilities were great, friendly staff, and the location was great! If you’re looking to stick to a budget and don’t mind a squeeze then I’d recommend. I always ate at the breakfast buffet which had a very interesting selection but nothing to write home about.
