Stayed at this hotel for an extended period during the Olympic Games. The staff were exceptional, friendly and willing to do everything they could to make the stay of myself and my colleagues as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The rooms whilst quite small were clean well equipped and comfortable. Ideally located for the Vibrant city of Shinjuku.
The hotel changed its name to the Sotetsu Fresa Inn from the Sunroute Higashi Shinjuku during my stay in 2019. I found it extremely convenient for public transport - it is just steps away from the Higashi Shinjuku metro. The hotel is on a reasonably busy public street (though not a crowded one at all) but I did not have any street noise in my room, which did not face the road. The room was more than adequately sized for a solo traveller. There was a good amount of shelf/closet space for storage. The combination heater/fan provided helped get the room to a comfortable temperature. Good bathroom, with superb WC (like pretty much everywhere in Japan!). Breakfast at the ground-floor restaurant had a good selection of "Western" items in addition to local savouries. Not spectacular, but did the job. There were easy-to-use coin-operated washing machines and dryers on a nearby floor. Lots of convenience stores, cafes and so on nearby. Would definitely consider staying here again if I need to be in the area.…
I really struggled to find a place in or near Shinjuku that featured three key things. A full-sized bed. A decent price. A hotel that wasn’t a run-down box. While not smack in the middle of the Shinjuku district, it was close enough for it to not matter as most of the area is in easy walking distance. The room itself, as to be e Lecter of Tokyo, is very tight. But the bed was a full sized double and the hotel’s facilities were the average required of such a hotel. There’s laundry rooms throughout the building for use, and a decent restaurant down stairs. Anything that isn’t within walking distance is easily accessible via the train lines beneath. The bonus of being not in the centre of Shinjuku is that all the noise seems to fade a street away. I was very happy with my slightly cramped stay.…
Located on the edge of Shinjuku, it was nevertheless close to amenities like convenience stores, restaurants, and best of all, a metro station. The registration and check out process was quick and fuss-free. The room was small, though perhaps cosy is the right word. It came with a water heater, TV, clothing press and even a humidifier, which was interesting. It was clean, comfortable and quiet.
The staff in this place are the best thing about this hotel. The rooms are WAY smaller than the pics they show so beware, some serious photo skills have been employed to make them look bigger. Claustrophobic springs to mind, nowhere for you to put suitcases so constantly tripping over them! Beware the buckwheat pillows! We changed ours after 10 minutes...again, by very willing staff. The breakfast was...interesting as a vegetarian. For this budget, there’s plenty more hotels around here.
We stayed here for one night. We arrived from Haneda airport and needed to go to Haneda the following day and it wasn’t so easy because it’s or 15 minutes walking or adding another train stop. Other than that - The room, service, and location were fine.
The room was small as was the bathroom but that said were were not in there long enough to be bothered by it. Great shower, loved the toilet. The bed was soft and comfortable too. Friendly and helpful reception staff couldn’t do enough for you. You can store your cases too. The Royal Host restaurant was used for breakfast and there is a good choice for both Asian and western breakfast. We had a good stay.
The staff were friendly, the cleaning staff did a great job, however for a tall person this was not a favorite. The room was expected to be a tight squeeze, all hotels in this price range are. The bathroom was so very tight. The sink forms a part of the sink/tub/shower arrangement and the tub itself could barely hold a smurf. The bed was very firm and the pillow was incredibly hard and small. It is convenient to transit and there are convenient stores close to hand, again that is the usual in Tokyo (Minato). Note that the restaurant is smoking permitted and caused us not to use it.
we booked a 4-night stay two months before our Jan. 2020 visit. this hotel was 'Hotel Sunroute Higashi Shinjuku' to us, to Google maps, and to every hotel booking site on the internet. we had trouble navigating the Tokyo metro system from the Ueno station to this hotel after our arrival, and it was already dark and raining when we came up to the exit of the metro. after going the wrong way after our exit, we went back and inquired at every hotel in the block. finally, we got to this Fresa Inn which turned out to be the Hotel Sunroute we booked. so, what was this hotel hiding from? we were not creditors, we were guests! on the positive side, the hotel was just a few steps away from the entrance of the Higashi-Shinjuku station. as expected the rooms are small and basic but they were adequate for resting and sleeping. the breakfast buffet menu does not vary, so by the third or fourth morning you're ready for a different fare.…
Was staying in Sotetsu Fresa Inn Higashi Shinjuku in Tokyo from 10-13 Jan 2020. The location is really excellent, like 1 min walk from the nearest station, Higashi Shinjuku. The room wise is as per most hotel rooms in Tokyo, small, but this is juz something u’ve gotta put up with in Tokyo. The bed was fine, I requested for lower pillows & my request was acceded. The AC / heater system was also working perfectly, though it took me a while to figure it out :D . The room was always kept clean and tidy. The staff were friendly also. Only things I think the hotel can look to improve are the possibility to add hooks on the walls or provide hangers for us to hang our clothes, given that there’s no wardrobe or cupboard in the room. & as wat was mentioned below, the WiFi could really do with some big improvement, cos I was only able to get max of 1 to 2 bars of signal in my room. Not exactly a big deal for me cos I had WiFi routers so I used it all the time. N lastly, the hotel might consider providing complimentary bottles of mineral waters, which are usually provided by most hotels. Ultimately, I think this is still a decent hotel for those on a short sojourn & is looking for convenience in locations on a budget.…
