We had one week to see all of the sites of Tokyo, meaning we needed easy access to the JR and subway lines. The hotel was close enough to the Shinjuku station, but was just long enough of a walk away that it got annoying to walk to and from the hotel whenever we wanted to use the trains. It...

Stayed for a week with a friend. The room was small but clean and all we needed it for was sleep. We did find the pillows stuffed with what seemed like dried pasta very ammusing, dont worry they have regular ones too. Is very close to a main train station which you can walk to via the underground. We loved...

The best thing I like about this hotel is the massage chair in the room! I've never been to any hotel that has this wonderfu feature. Imagine walking whole day in Tokyo and back to your room to get a back rub! What more do you need? Other than that, the hotel is average. Room tend to be small, although...

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for six nights. The room had 2 single beds and was very small but clean. The toilet was clean with a small but deep bath. It is only a ten minute walk from shinjuku station and if you feel claustrophobic, you can get out and find people walking around even at midnight....

Was rather hopeful before checking into this hotel as the exterior has a rather impressive facade. However, the dated interiors fell below our expectations. Based on the rates we paid, I believe we could get better rooms at more accessible and newer hotels like Sunroute Shinjuku. It didnt helped that the check-in lobby was on the 3rd floor as we...

After planning a last minute trip to Tokyo, we struggled to obtain accomodation for 1 night due a public holiday. Even though thier website said they were full, I made a call to the Washington. A very pleasant English speaking representative managed to squeeze us in. On arrival, it was obvious that they were busy, very busy. Due to our...

We found a good deal from Expedia i'm pretty sure, like $119 a night or something which was good at peak season when we went as it was climbing season for mt.fuji. The location was a nice walk to the train station (10mins walk) and good food like basically across the street. There is a convenience store in the building...

Stayed for 1 night at end of 3-week trip in Japan. By far, this was the worst hotel we stayed at throughout the holiday. This hotel is in Shinjuku but a solid 20-minute walk to Shinjuku station so not that convenient with luggage. The rooms are tiny with barely enough space to move around. The bathroom feels like a broom...

My wife and I travel EXTENSIVELY and this is by far the worst we've ever been in. The hotel has a central ventilation system and by the flick of a switch, it's either a heater or a cooler. BTW, this switch is flicked by the time you are there, and not by what the weather is for the day. We...

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
