We stayed at City Hotel N.U.T.S as part of a trip involving Kyoto and Osaka. It was a decent (I want to rate it Average-Very Good) but dated place, the surrounding area was good with some enticing options for eating and the subway really close. I would reccommend it but would delve deeper in looking for a hotel next time...

1. Very good location near the metro station, on a quiet side street but within 2 minutes from some nice local bars and restaurants. 2. Clean rooms, well equipped bathroom. 3. Inexpensive. 4. Free soda in the lobby but: 5. Room was tiny for the designated number of guests. 6. Some of us had poor wifi (3 out of 5...

A bit off the beaten track, which is a good thing, in the backstreets of Shinjuku. Around the corner are some amazing local bars and restaurants where the food and drink is beautiful. Hotel itself is kitchy, 70s porno kitchy, which has its own type of charm but maybe not what you want when you just get off a 10...

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Pros and cons: PROS: 1) It is at a great location - 5 minutes walk from the metro station Shinjuku Sanchoume. There were also various restaurants and a convenience store nearby. Shinjuku area is accessible via a 10 to 15 minutes walk. 2) Spacious bathroom. 3) Staff are friendly and willing to help....

The hotel charged an additional fee to sleep 2 guests in a double room. The accommodation is spacious (although the decor is somewhere between Art Deco and horribly dated) but not particularly clean. WiFi, like the service, is very much a hit-and-miss proposition.

Let me itemise this for you; 1) This is a pay by the hour hotel; the bed I stayed had a plastic mattress cover on it. I'll let you do the math. 2) The hotel is in the most dirtiest of streets. I arrived at night, it was scary! 3) The hotel is about a 10-15min walk from the main...

Stayed here for two nights for a weekend getaway, and it was great. The rooms and bathrooms are more spacious than a typical Japanese room. It is steps away from the red line which can connect you with any major line at Shinjuku station. The area is fun, full of bars and restaurants, not to mention bring across the street...

I travelled with a small group (4 women, 1 child) and we decided to book the apartment type room for 5 nights. The apartment type itself is located near the hotel, about 5 minutes walk. The pros are: - The price are more affordable than book a hotel room - they provide great quality of toiletries, the towel is changed...

I stayed here for 5 nights with my girlfriend in late March for the hanami (cherry blossom season) and we were very happy with our stay! Here are the pros and cons to why: Pros: + The hotel's location is perfect. It's located in the heart of Shinjuku, which is debatable the heart of Tokyo. We were in Japan for...

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
