...if you can find it! I arrived at the JR Shinjuku station and nobody seemed to know this hotel even after reading the English and Japanese addresses. I had a Japanese friend with me and even she struggled and when she called them up,they gave her the wrong directions as well! We did eventually find it though, you need the...

This is a super great value in Tokyo. I stayed here in 2003 and came back in 2010 and it seems like everything has been renovated with new furniture etc. Back in 2003 I thought it was great, now that everything is fresh and new it's even better. The rooms are very small but you are not in Shinjuku to...

i stayed here for 4 nights early feb 10. i stayed in a double room, the rooms are very nicely presented and clean, there was only just enough walking space around the bed which left very little room to put our bags. the whole area under the window was taken up by an airconditioner/heater in a box, we stored our...

Loved the location of this hotel. it was close to everything and the happening nightlight. But my goodness, the rooms are tiny. We had trouble moving around in the room, especially with the luggage, and we had to maneuver our way to open the doors to make sure we dont hit each other!. the toilet is super tiny, not sure...

The Lonestar is in an excellent location and the directions for reaching the hotel are really clear. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the nearest JR Station (Shinjuku) which is on the Yamanote line and Chuo line. Both are free to JR Rail Pass holders. The Chuo line has fast trains to Tokyo Station. The Yamanote is a...

City lonestar is in Shinjuku, the best night district in Tokyo. This hotel was reasonably priced, central and not too hard to find. It is right near the San Chome station, and most areas are within walking distance including the famous Golden Gai. Harajuku is only one stop away on the train, which is absolutely fantastic on a Sunday.

Very handy hotel right in Ni-chome, the great little gay village. an easy walk to shinjuku train station, two minutes to beautiful, peaceful Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden if you need timeout from the stampede. near coffee shops, noodle shops, a French patisserie. very clean. modern Japanese design that is refreshing in this era of generic beige and other drab tones....

Lonestar is in Shinjuku san-chrome, which has a lot of bars and restaurants. Great if you're travelling with friends and need a night-cap or supper. Perhaps not so great for families with small children as it can quite rowdy at night. It's just across the street from a train station, but we usually walked about 15 minutes to get to...

This hotel offers small, modern, clean rooms at a very reasonable price. The area is the center of gay life in Tokyo if that concerns you, but of course, a majority of the restaurants and bars are not gay-specific. Its just a very lively and fun area to be in, yet only a few blocks from home if you stay...

Great and quiet location close to Shinjuku train station, metro and wonderful department store Isetan. Very clean and confortable rooms full of amenities but also VERY small. Helpfull staff at the reception always ready to help. I paid only 48 Euro/night with continental breakfast and enjoyed very much staying at City Hotel Lonestar.

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
