After a long day of sightseeing, I was happy to see the room was spacious, clean, free wifi, and had excellent views of the city. It afforded a good rest and good breakfast in the morning, though I was happy to have chosen to have an early breakfast as there was a long line waiting when I finished.

So the location was the primary reason for picking this hotel, convent and easy walk from train station. It is rather large and interconnected with about 3 or 4 other hotels, encompassing a convention center. Overall the hotel was clean, upscale, and nice. My issue was the room. It was nice enough and quite roomy but The point of a...

1. Just 2 night in Tokyo. This time staying at Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa. 2. Hotel located about 90min bus ride from from Narita Airport & about 30min from Haneda Airport. Abandon of transport facilities nearby including train station (walking distance) 3. Hotel room is decent in size with all the modern features & facilities. The room allocated to...

Selected this hotel as I used to stay here as kid on family vacations. Booked two rooms and both were dirty (you could see dust on the carpet at the corners). I had specifically booked (3 weeks in advance) for non-smoking rooms but after check in found that I had been given the rooms on smoking floor. Hotel was fully...

Stayed with my family (including our gorgeous shitzu dog) for one night, The experience was great~ The room had more than enough space for us to open our luggage and let our dog play, They prepared some training sheet with wet tissue, cage and some necessary equipment, surprisingly we even can order some room service meal for dogs! Not sting...

Nice bedrooms! Excellent location and very good food! The only down was the waiting time for breakfast as it seems they were understaffed because there were empty tables that needed cleaning... We waited half an hour before we could be seated...

Sakura time and you saw verdant foliage and think cherry blossoms as you walked around the hotel from within. It was a rainy three-day trip so the inside view and the balcony in the room were the best ways to enjoy it. That the hotel was right in the middle of a cherry blossom tour/ pathway was a big plus....

For the price I was paying, I was really not impressed. AC only works during the summer despite it being rather hot in my room when I went during the spring (77 degrees F). When I ordered a pizza and called the reception desk to let them know, they told me that the delivery guy would not be allowed into...

I have experienced some of the very best customer service anywhere at stays in Japan, but the team at the Grand Prince did not deliver and this made the stay a disappointment. This is an updated large hotel and is conveniently located near the station (although it can be a challenging 8 minute uphill hike with your luggage). The staff...

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The New (Shin) Takanawa Prince Hotel was designed by Togo Murano, one of Japan's leading architects. Every one of his design concepts from the exterior of the grand banquet halls to the restaurant interiors to the handpicked furnishings all harmonize beautifully, despite their different functions. This is the largest hotel in the Takanawa complex and it is a monument to individuality, décor and functionality. Like its other two counterparts, the New Takanawa Prince sits majestically on the beautifully landscaped grounds of a 10-acre Japanese garden. ... more   less
