GCH is a basic business hotel - small, simple rooms, no frills. However, the service made the stay pleasant. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and polite. It was the little things that mattered such as providing us with an umbrella on a rainy day. I liked the water pressure and the water was hot. The bathroom is pretty...

This hotel is located in Kanda, a stop away from Tokyo main station on JR line. Short walk to JR Kanda station where you will find lots of places to eat and drink. The neighbourhood is quiet but convenient stores and coffee shops are close by. The hotel is not new but efficient. Rooms are a bit larger than other...

I spent a week in the Grand Central Hotel and I am satisfied. The room has an ordinary size for japanese hotel rooms and you have your own small bathroom, with a bathtub/shower, toilet and sink. Furthermore you have a water boiler with green tea and a TV. There is no wardrobe in the room, but 4 coat hangers. The...

About 10 minutes walk to JR line Kanda station. Walking back to the hotel from the station can be a bit quiet but still safe. Some staff can't speak English very well, but still helpful and patient especially when we were trying to ask for directions. At the frontdesk, there are many free handcream, razor shaver, hairband, coffee, teabags, sugar,...

Only 5 minutes walk to JR Kanda station and one stop to Tokyo station by train or 25 minutes to Shinjuku station. Using Hakone...

Great hotel: the rooms are confortable and rather big to Tokyo standards ! Great helpful staff, too. The only downside is the district with not much around, except for a few bars and cafés. Not to far from Ginza, though.

Neighbourhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
