Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had lunch here recently and the food was very enjoyable. However, we were seated outside in a wooden structure with perspex windows on a very hot day which was very uncomfortable. Food and service was very good and prices were reasonable. This old pub has lots of character and we will revisit.

Great breakfast.. took some friends that were staying with us for breakfast they were really impressed builder’s breakfast went down a treat with their son. The rest of us ordered the Irish breakfast, eggs bacon pudding tomato sausage freshly cooked. Plenty of tea and toast really busy, but good service, don’t mind waiting a bit for freshly cooked breakfast..

Room was small and basic. Bathroom was clean but paint was coming off the ceiling. There were tea stains on the walls in the bedroom and some of the surfaces were dusty which meant that they had not been cleaned before we arrived. There were no gloves provided at breakfast and everybody was touching the same jugs for orange juice and milk. The cooked breakfast was nice but little choice on the cold buffet. The staff in the bar were helpful and friendly especially Cliona and Jayden. The food was good in the bar and social distancing was been adhered to. It is well located in the square and is only 5 mins from the harbour.

Went to Crotty's for Sunday lunch. I was very surprised to notice that at least 2 staff were not wearing masks. It just felt so wrong and shocked that this is not enforced. The food could have been better - was good value but was not that nice. Quite disappointing

We had a lovely stay here. Comfortable beds in a spacious room with En-suite. Covid compliance in the B&B didn’t seem to be very good. Nothing seemed to have been removed from the rooms to minimise touch, and I would wonder if the room had been fully sanitized between stays. Staff were all fabulous (particularly the young guy in the bar who checked us in-apologies we didn’t catch your name!). Overall great for what we booked!

Crotty’s is a lovable traditional Irish pub full of nooks & crannies and traditional Irish music. We dined there on consequetive evenings in July. Wednesday is steak night & we got 2 delicious sirloin steaks, cooked exactly to our liking with all the trimmings. On Thursday big bro had a lovely chicken schnitzel while I really enjoyed their seafood platter - a good selection of shellfish & smoked salmon. The pub has a great homely atmosphere and the staff are friendly & attentive. My only complaint is the lack of local craft beer - a great passion of mine. We’ll be back the next time we’re sailing the Shannon.

We did arrive early but that was not a problem. We had a lovely lunch before our room was ready, only soup but this was so good and definately home made. Our room was at the front of the building was was big, clean and comfortable. The owners have manged to keep as much of the old world splendour of this building as possible. The bathroom was a good size. There is not a lot to do in Kilrush but it is a lovely town just to have a wander around. The breakfast here was very good and served by a very pleasant lady.

Had lunch here and it was just delicious. Staff very friendly and accomodating Had thw chicken wrap with salad and i did it justice. Had glass chardonnay, house wines I found not good generally in Ireland so was not surprised by its quality, just ok. Other than that, good value and food tasty and fresh.

We were given room 8 which had filthy carpets and a terrible odour coming from the tub. We requested a change of room and were given a room in which there was only about a foot between the doorway to the bathroom and the bed. We were so tired so we stayed. When we got up the next day, there was no water!!! We asked for the manager and was told he would come at 1000. We asked that he come right away and he did. He was apologetic and wanted us to stay for breakfast. He returned our money. Must say the food at the pub was good but then there is no where else in town to eat. They roll up the carpet early in Kilrush.
