Certificate of Excellence
The Haven Hotel is a truly unique venue and we are dedicated to making your time with us special. Celebrating its reopening in 2016 The Haven has been carefully renovated and refurbished but still retains its quirky charm. Owned and managed by the Kelly family for over 50 years, the hotel is set in stunning surroundings in the heart of the beautiful fishing village of Dunmore East, in the Sunny South East we like to think we have something for everyone. We pride ourselves on serving delicious home cooked food and celebrate Irish produce and use products from recognised Quality Assurance Schemes, specialising in Roast Rib of Prime Irish Beef and locally caught seafood. Food is served all day. As a must for music lovers we have live music in the bar most weekends and on the new outdoor stage on Sundays in the summer months. Children are especially welcome and we host Family Fun Sundays throughout the summer with live music, bouncy castles, ice cream and BBQs. As The Haven started life as a private home all our bedrooms are different sizes to accommodate families and couples alike. They have recently been completely renovated and refurbished, and each boasts comfy beds with crisp white sheets, a flat screen multi-channel television, hairdryer, tea/coffee hospitality tray and free WIFI. We have 12 bedrooms in the main house - many with stunning sea views. We have a further six bedrooms in the Garden Rooms. One of our bedrooms on the ground floor is wheelchair accessible. Our bridal suite comes complete with four poster bed. We look forward to meeting you at The Haven Hotel.

What a comfortable hotel with lovely staff. We only stopped for a quick cup of tea after a brisk walk but there was no hurry put on us by any of the staff. It’s a hotel I’d definitely return to in the future. Excellent rates for overnight stays. There were lovely Victorian style d

We have been meaning to write a review for so long and apologies for the delay....partly because we’ve been finding it difficult to put into words just how special our day was and how magical and unique the setting of The Haven is.

We were expecting your review! We did our very best to accommodate you when you were here but sadly, no matter how hard we tried, and we did, nothing seemed to please you, so what can we say? The Haven was initially built as a home, so our rooms are all shapes and sizes and furnished accordingly. We like to think we have kept the character of the building while making each room unique, with all the comforts of home. You are, by your admission, very observant, so we are perplexed as to how you failed to notice your courtesy tray in your room on arrival. Perhaps it was next to the instruction card for the TV. You also appear to have a heightened sense of smell: our candles in the bar and restaurant are plain unscented wax candles. The only “smell” we can imagine in our ensuites would be from the cleaning products we use to make sure they are immaculate. I am pleased to note cleanliness was not something you felt you had to add to your list. You visited us during a quiet September week so your aversion to noise, such as background music and other guests, must be very difficult when in establishments are busier. Indeed it is something we note you complain mostly about online. We did indeed have the sunroom booked out for a meeting - we host many committee meetings for local groups and are delighted to offer them a complimentary place to meet all year around. I understand you were indeed overcharged by ten euro at dinner, for which we immediately apologised and refunded. When you refused to pay for your stay, we reimbursed you. I thank you for at least acknowledging that the staff at The Haven are “grand”. We are VERY proud of our team here. Moreover, yes, you may have seen a member of the team in jeans. Many of them pop in on their days off such is their commitment and, as we are not a "formal" hotel, we like everyone to be comfortable and relaxed. Perhaps you prefer a more corporate establishment with everything uniform and in its place, but I make no apology as that is EXACTLY what we are not. As a family owned and run hotel, part of our uniqueness is that we are a home from home and the reason many, many of our guests and wedding parties chose us is that we are just that. We note online that you are very critical of many of the establishments you have visited, so at least we’re not alone! Regards, Paul Kelly Owner/Manager
