Staying here this weekend for a few nights with my two daughters. I have to say we are blown away by the standard of the glamping lodges here. Finished and decorated to a very high standard with their own en suite shower and bathroom and a fantastic outdoor BBQ area with lovely seating for each lodge. The main room has a double bed and bunk beds which are very comfortable and high quality with fresh white sheets and bed spread done to a hotel quality . The room also has a mini Fridge , microwave , kettle and cutlery . A basket of towels and tea towels for use each day . It has a heater in case it gets too cold which we didn't need and an electric fan for the warmer days. All in all it is definitely the highest standard of glamping lodge we have come across in Ireland so far. We still have two more days to enjoy here 🥰. If you are intending on visiting dunmore with a family you should definitely give these a look. A couple of minutes walk to the beach with a variety of restaurants and bars nearby .
We will definitely be making it a yearly event .

My first time at the Strand for a long time, in fact my first restaurant meal since lockdown! On a sunny Sunday the place was packed for lunch with socially distant outside tables. Considering the crowd, service was very good. Our food, including fish and chips and pasta for the children and prawn avaco salad, crab salad for adults as well as an assortment of deserts, was all very good. Can't say enough about the army of staff who were weaving between tables with full and empty plates and the cleaners who had empty tables cleaned and disinfected for the next party. Another aspect of the Strand is their involvement with artform.ie which I hope to participate in sometime soon.

Our second time taking the cottage for a few days for a bit of a break and I can say with
absolute certainty it won't be the last. Located directly adjacent to the coffee dock Butterfly Cottage's location is second to NONE for beach access. Essential for this seasons changeable weather. The cottage is deceptively spacious, sleeping up to 9 very comfortably across three rooms.
More than enough for our brood.

The kitchen and dining area is very well equipped and quite large ensuring self catering is a breeze.
Or if you're like me on holiday, plating up the local take aways on pretty delph and fancy glasses is a breeze.

Check in and out was seamless by the wonderful Catherine, who also ensured we had a table in the Fine Dining restaurant on one of the nights.
Dinner was nothing short of wonderful. ......even with the three kids. 😉🤣. A genuinely blue steak for myself and an authentic pork snitzel for the husband. The kids menu and portions were excellent for both value and portion size.
Service was prompt, polite and extremely accommodating and friendly.

We spent a lot of time on the terrace. Heaters are brilliant as is the recently installed roof covering. Ensuring the craic goes on rain or shine.

All in all a wonderful few days and already looking forward to the next.

We stayed here over the midterm. We had initially been booked into the townhouse up the road but were delighted to be moved to the hotel. The townhouse felt drab and in need of updating. The standard of the rooms and bathrooms in particular is definitely far below that of those in the Hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Hotel. It is simple and unfussy. We have young children and they enjoyed the freedom of being able to roam freely around the hotel. The breakfasts were fantastic. While the orange juice is not fresh squeezed, the food is all made fresh to order and was consistently good all week.

We ate twice in the bar and felt the food and drinks to be slightly over priced for what we got. The food was fine - forgettable really - but fine.

We had interconnecting family bedrooms and were very happy with them. Overall, value for money for 5 people for 3 nights B&B was very good.

You could find faults with various aspects of the hotel but our overall sense was that we really relaxed when we were there, our kids loved it and we would happily return.

Spend a lovely Sunday swimming at the beach in Dumore East upon leaving the water dried off and headed to The strand outdoor table area for food to get the heat back into us I got sea food chowder and my wife got prawns as starters both children had beef burger off the adult main course menu this was eaten quite quickly as everyone was cold and hungry after our swim! Food was very tasty boys went back to play while myself and my wife waited for our mains....and waited and waited.... several waiters came and asked if we had ordered food they were nice and friendly but even though we said we were waiting for a sirloin steak and fish nobody seemed to relate this to the kitchen the owner came to our table and spoke to use I didn't complain about the wait as I'm generally the one looking for an easy life more time passed and after asking several waiters and at this stage really freezing cold I asked the waitress who took our order if they had forgotten to place our order she appoliges and said there was a mix up with our order as there was two starters and the two main course burgers for the children but it was on the way one hour after my starter my main course arrived I was chilled to the bone this is an outdoor seating area as we had our dog with us 7.45pm sirloin steak priced at €28.50 it was a disgrace it was an end piece of striplion full of stringy fat what a major disappointment on top of that my wife said her place wasn't great very thin with alot of breadcrumb batter and dry not at all what you would expect for the prices being charged!!!I looked for cliff the manager and stated my case who I must say was not over helpful he offered to cook me another steak or not charge us for our main courses simple as that his appolige was not sincere he told me he had sold 500 steaks with no complaints i asked him to try cut my steak and i showed him the quality of the steak there was no deduction on our Bill of €98 which he personally took the money for,no offer of a warm cup of coffee to heat use up I told him we were freezing cold!!What a horrible experience and really ruined what was otherwise a lovely Sunday.

We booked initially into their townhouse rooms but on arrival were told none were available so accepted a room in the inn. This was in need of a decent carpenter as the door needed a good shoulder to open it. Inside was dusty and no view apart from a flat roof and ladders. No water was provided so I went down to ask for a bottle. Upon checkout we discovered they charged us 6 euro for this. When we questioned it, it was a case of "don't shoot the messenger". The internal area was dirty and musty. The carpets looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in months.
The breakfast was tasty and the young lady who served us was really nice but should perhaps brush up on her mask wearing etiquette (noses also emit germs).
The price of 126 euro for 1 night was absolutely way too much for an establishment which I would only afford 2 stars at best.

A very friendly girl called Stacey checked us in.
She went above and beyond insisting on helping carry our bags(my daughter had a sprained ankle so this was very much appreciated).
The room was cosy with beautiful artwork and a cosy sofa which gave it a very home from home feel.
The room had everything one would need to have a pleasant stay- hairdryer, selection of teas and coffees, flatscreen TV, ensuite bathroom with toiletries etc
We dined outside on the terrace the first night. The food was delicious with something to suit all tastes and staff were helpful friendly and efficient.
Breakfast options ranged from Granola with a Berry sauce to pancakes with maple Syrup. Once again delicious food, fast and the helpful staff made this experience fabulous.
The location of the hotel was fabulous for the beach as it is literally a stones throw from the beach. The first day of our trip was unexpectedly sunny and it was lovely to soak up the sun and sea air.
The hotel is located in the lower part of the village. It is a uphill stroll to the upper village which has a cute little giftshop, newsagents and other amenities.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone .

The Strand is one of our favorite places to go. The location right on the water is stunning, the rooms are gorgeous - spotless & comfortable, our favourite one looking straight out to sea. The staff couldn’t be any more helpful and lovely & the food is superb, from the buttermilk pancakes at breakfast to the delicious halibut at dinner. Not to mention great coffee & ice cream from the kiosk. We stayed in the glamping cabins this time which were very comfortable and the kids loved them. Looking forward to our next visit already!

Dined here on Monday 7th June..
We ordered burgers which were quite nice chips were reheated and, still were lukewarm.
We also ordered 2 Mojitos and I ask could I have extra mint please..
Wow. 2 leafs of mint 1 piece of lime, no sugar of any description. We waited so long for them we did drink them
I complained to the server when asked if everything was OK only to be told that the Mojitos come already mixed in a large bottle and are very expensive..
I said there is no excuse for not preparing a proper Mojito when they have the nerve to charge €10..
They took the price of 1 off the bill but I stated that the fact was they were not Mojitos.
To be honest I wouldn't waste my time and energy visiting here again
Impression was they were busy and couldn't give a damn about customer service

Booked to stay in their townhouse for one night middle of September. To put it mildly the dirt of the room was very bad. Mould on the bathroom tiles and a rotten toilet brush indicated no attention to room for quite some time. Furniture in bedroom was not cleaned properly and at breakfast next morning in main hotel milk jug and side plate were chipped. Having said all that when I brought it to management attention they were quick to offer me full refund. It was pointed out to me and I fully understand the problems of staffing due to Covid but honestly management should clean rooms themselves rather than put guests in inferior accommodation. My personal opinion is the Strand Hotel have monopoly on accommodation in Dunmore East and standard's are slipping.
