I accidently booked myself and a friend on the wrong date but the staff member kindly accommodated us. Nice clean building and lovely village setting right on the St Cuthbert Way. Doors are locked at 11 pm but tea making facilities are left out for use . The Gypsy palace is just around the corner and we visited the stunning...

Stayed several times and always found it enjoyable. As an independent hostel it has a bit more personality than the YHA owns and I always find the owner to be friendly and accommodating and the hostel to be clean and in good order. On our first trip he took the time to recommend a couple of local walks and lend...

Walking the St Cuthberts Way, this hostel is directly on the route. Lovely house, clean, comfortable bed, Staff very welcoming and helpful. If you wish to have a cooked breakfast, go to the Border Inn and prepay the night before, it is well worth the effort.

Arrived after day's hiking on St Cuthbert's Way. Met on arrival by friendly manager. Room was clean and comfortable. Shower not the most powerful but ok. Nice sitting room and big kitchen/dining room. No internet (or phone signal). Got on free wif at pub so not a problem. Will definitely return at some point.

Arrived seemed ok. Rooms were ok but dissapointed no drying room, after a long wet day it would have been nice to be able to get some hot food and a drink without having to go elswhere wet and tired. Could not dry out clothes as in other youth hostels and nealy double the cost. As walking the pennine way...

Have stayed in this hostel on a few occasions that is now owned by Friends of Nature but affiliated to the SYHA. Very clean and a great location for cyclists, walkers and people touring. Self catering in large kitchen area. Dormitories or smaller rooms available.

This is a charming little hostel which is an affiliate of the SYH association, but owned by the The Friends of Nature. It was formerly owned by the SYH but has been sold and improved and updated since then. It sits in a serene little hollow, below the village green, at the end of the Pennine Trail (or beginning I...

Booked into this hostel as intended on staying overnight there during a two day canoe trip. On the day of the trip things went a bit wrong and we ended up getting held up. As a result one of the members of our party attempted to phone the hostel to make them aware we were going to be behind schedule...
