I just want to say a massive thank you to oisin Nevin for running the show at our wedding on Friday the 16th of September. You were amazing from start to finish. Massive thank you to the chef the food was out of this world. We had a full table of mangement from the galway bay hotel who attended my wedding and couldn't get over how amazing oisin and he's staff were . The feedback from all our guests was Absolutely unbelievable and I just wanna say thank you so much again , we will be back to you❤️

Dear Maps813331 Thank you for your review. I'm sorry that you found us just mediocre in comparison to other hotels as this greatly detracts from the volume of 5 star reviews we continuously receive regarding our hotel and more importantly our staff. We are fortunate to be so close to Galway and the access through the motorway plus the 18 daily Trains is a big plus for the town and our residents. Im so happy you noticed the cleanliness of our Hotel and I'm delighted that our standards did not drop during what was a difficult and extremely busy season. This is testament to our wonderful accommodation team. We will be carrying out some necessary upgrades in November and this will include additional sockets and USB charging points in our rooms. This work was planed for 2020 but Covid put a stop to that and over the past 2 years it became very much dependant on supply and demand but we are now getting the opportunity to begin this project. As for the other areas of concern you had we do provide small mini fridges on request but i don't believe one was requested. There is development taking place opposite the hotel but works do commence at the permitted and regulated times. I unfortunately cant do anything about the traffic on the road but this has never been a gripe nor brought to our attention. We don't as you say have air conditioned rooms but we also don't advertise that we do and also make this clear on our website. This again however is something that is being taken into consideration for future planning. I am upset about the comments on our staff as you and everyone else can see by all the comments that we are truly blessed with our team and we know the effort they put into making everyone feel welcome to the Raheen Woods Hotel. We consider ourselves a home from home. I would like to welcome you back in the future and ask that you contact us for our best available rate.

I’ve been coming here to the restaurant for many years and the food and drink and common areas are lovely. This was however my first time staying in this Hotel and it was terrible as follows: 1. Paint falling off the ceiling in the bathroom - not just my room 2. Hard uncomfortable pillows 3. No fridge 4. No air conditioning 5. No bottles of water in the room to help with 4 6. No safe in the room 7. Small tv with no sports channels - you have to go down to the bar to watch sports 8. Poor wifi speed so streaming is a problem if you want to get around 7 9. No shower gel, shampoo, tissues etc., in the bathroom - just hand soap The price is at least double what the room is actually worth. Avoid

Dear Vancouver Spur Thank you for your review. Thank you firstly for being a return customer to our food and beverage outlets. We do appreciate it. We take a lot of time planning our menus and making sure that they are always fresh and in season dishes and we also take a lot of time keeping our public areas modern and clean. I do apologise about your bathroom experience. We have had and extremely busy summer looking after so many family's and stay alone guests that the ventilation equipment in our rooms were working over time. We have been replacing a number of units over the weeks but due to the severe issues with supply and demand it has caused some problems. Due to this we have had to on occasion over the summer close the rooms down for resealing and painting but as moisture does it had an affect on the ceiling. I do apologise and we should have been more vigilant in what rooms were being allocated at the time and i take full responsibility for this. I'm sorry to hear about your pillows as we purchased over 100 new high grade pillows in July and i would be disappointed if they were not to the quality as the manufacturer specified . We dont have fitted fridges in the room but we do have a selection of mini fridges available upon request. Perhaps they were all in circulation due to the number of young families residing with us at the time. We will be looking at investing into our room air-conditioning but this is not something that we advertise as having but also offer fans at the desk when we are notified. We are in the final stage of teaming up with a water brand so that we can offer water in each room. We do offer this in all our Suites and executive rooms Regarding the Wi-Fi we did send a member of the team up to outside your room who was able to fully stream the Man Utd game Clearly on their laptop through their sky app so perhaps if it was through a 3rd party website or by other means this may have affected your view as a speed test was also carried out which showed high strength Wi-Fi from that area. We do offer over 20 channels on our 32 inch flat screens which are in keeping with the size of our standard rooms and offer up to 65in in other larger rooms. Regarding the offering in the room we offer body gel in our showers and hand soap at our wash areas. We apologise for any of the above items that we were at fault with and we tried to offer alternatives to you which were opted against. We would love to welcome you back to our hotel and we ask that you contact us for our best available rate

Mom needs a break wrote a review Aug 2022

Just back from a family trip to this hotel. We had the best three nights away. We had a toddler 4 years old with us. The breakfast kids club was amazing they collect your child and bring them down for breakfast We were able to see him and have breakfast calmly on our own while he enjoyed the company of other kids. I could hear him chatting away ordering pancakes with chocolate and apple juice:) so mad to hear him chat away. The kids club in the evening was fantastic run by two lovely ladies one night was arts and crafts and the other was a disco. We were able to pop our heads in as often as we wanted. Everytime we did I could see my toddler laughing, playing, getting face painted etc. There is a pool in leisure center which has a great small pool for toddlers and you can access from a lift on our floor. Also a kids play area beside leisure centre is nice and big for ages baby to 7/8 ( different areas)only 5 euro ( special deal as we were guest of hotel) with full access all day so we popped in and out. Great when it was raining. Food was fab and service very friendly, room we got very big double bed with another double bed for toddler and bunked on top of that. Very child friendly hotel ticked all the boxes for us. Close to turoe Farm nice trip out Highly recommend 👌

Dear "Mom Needs A Break " To say I am thrilled to read this review would be an understatement . We are over the moon to hear about your experience and more so how well your little one got on and integrated so well with the other kids. As a parent I'm sure you wanted nothing more. The breakfast train was set up so as to give parents the opportunity to have some quite time and enjoy a nice relaxing breakfast or to get the hugely important extra hour in bed. We are very fortunate with the team we have in the hotel and i know that everyone go above and beyond to offer a memorable stay with us . We are very lucky also with the family amenities that we have on site and I'm delighted you enjoyed them all. We would love to welcome you back in the near future and ask that you call us direct on 091 875 888 for our best rate or contact Deirdre on deirdre@raheenwoodshotel.ie and we will look after you.

Hi Jessica. We are delighted to hear this . It means so much to us that you got the break you deserved and that your kids got so well looked after. As a family run hotel we want nothing more than you to feel like you are staying with family and have the confidence to know we will look after you. Kate has been great since we started our little kids evening and it has been a very welcomed addition by parents as they know the kids are having fun and they can also get down time with their partners. Its all about finding that balance. We really hope to see you all again in the very near future. Have a wonderful summer.

We selected this hotel because of its proximity to Galway. It is a nice property with helpful staff and a good restaurant. However, there were no unused electrical outlets in our rooms necessitating unplugging lamps to charge phones/lap tops/etc. We were very surprised to experience this in a modern hotel. Moreover, while wifi was available in the rooms, it was not available in the restaurant ( a common occurrence per our wait staff).

Dear Paul B. Thank you very much for your review. Thank you for appreciating our staff and the effort that they put in. They are integral to our hotel and really do make it their business to make sure everyone has a memorable and enjoyable stay with us. I understand about the sockets in the room. This is something we will be investing in shorty along with dual USB sockets and the roll out will be over the coming months. I am aware about the night in question you are referring to with the staff shortage. It was murphy's law that Monday's are generally the quitter days of the week as this Monday in question took us all of guard and this was something we did not let happen again. It was a sign for us that the summer was beginning and a sign that we had been waiting for as it had been a slow start to the Galway Tourist trade and thankfully it was full steam ahead after that. If you every wish to return again we would love to look after you so please contact Deirdre at deirdre@raheenwoodshotel.ie .

Spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Lots of shelf space in the en-suite, something many hotels overlook. Excellent staff on reception, in the bar and at breakfast. We took the train into Galway city. (I was shocked to see how much Galway has deteriorated over the years. It looked dirty and many of the shops and restaurants/bars looked shabby and uninviting). On the other hand, Raheen Woods Hotel looks great and the public areas are large with comfortable seating. Breakfast was excellent. A very tasty Full Irish. Good coffee too. I was surprised to see a restaurant, in the hotel, named after Sir Charles Trevelyan. He of the “Trevelyan's corn” in the song “The Fields of Athenry”. It was Trevelyan who wrote of the Potato Famine: “the judgement of God sent the calamity to teach the Irish a lesson". He did very little to alleviate the plight of the Irish people. Though he had the power to do so. The corn referenced in the song was the food surplus which was exported from Ireland while the famine continued. Is the hotel being ironic in naming an eatery after Trevelyan? It doesn’t seem appropriate to me. One very minor quibble: the water pressure in the shower was poor and the temperature fluctuated too much. But one major quibble: no soundproofing between rooms. We were fortunate that we had a sole occupant next door, who kept reasonable hours. We could clearly hear much of his side of the conversation on his phone calls - and we was not shouting. Having gone to the expense of building a fine hotel and running it well, why skimp on soundproofing? Despite all the positives, we would not return because of it.

Dear PGB Dublin Thank you very much for your review and for your kind words about our staff and your experience. Yes i agree with you about Galway and can say Covid really did not help. It took away many fine businesses and badly needed revenue for the city. In the hotel we have many rooms named after things synonymous with Athenry such as the Clarin Bistro after the Clarin River that runs through the town, The B52 restaurant after the B52 bomber plain that crashed in Athenry during the war , The DeBurgo Suite after the DeBurgo family that built the castles in Athenry and Trevelyan's Restaurant after the Famous song . Now in this restaurant there is food a plenty for everyone unlike what the song depicts of the horrors that Lord Trevelyan caused. We embrace the past but we make it better for all to enjoy now. We also have the story of what he did at the door entering our restaurant so that people can see what he did but also to realize that they are now going to enjoy a beautiful meal. We would hope you would reconsider a stay with us in the future and ask that if you do to please contact us directly on 091 875 888 for our best rate.

To the amazing team at the Raheen Woods Hotel thank you for making myself, husbands and kids stay fab. We stayed on Saturday 18th June for our very close friends wedding. Check in was so quick and easy and I was greeted by lovely staff at reception. The wedding reception that we attended was amazing from the start to finish. Food was beautiful and the set up of the venue was fab. Staff were so so helpful as was at the table with 2 kids they kept coming doing down asking was everything good or did I need anything. For dessert kids had jelly and ice cream but decided they just wanted Ice cream and some lovely server got them new ice cream without the jelly I'm not sure what his name is but he was so good to do this. Oisin's speech was great about how Arthur Guinness brought them to the Raheen Woods. The level of customer care was just unreal. For anyone with kids the little fairy trail is a must next to the hotel. My kids spent so long dragging me and husband around it especially the youngest girls. It's beautiful. Thank you again for a fabulous experience.

Dear AshB83 Thank you so much for such a kind review. We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your experience with us and how well looked after your kids were. It takes a lot of pressure of the parents once the kids are happy. I believe your server was Jordan and he really is a credit to himself and the hotel team. He always goes over and beyond and we are very lucky to have him. Oh that fairy trail goes down a treat with the kids and im so happy to hear how much joy they got from it. We really do love hosting weddings here and we do make all our couples feel like family and we build up a real connection with them and it was actually Pawel and I that were serving the Guinness the day Rachel and Ronan landed at the hotel so talk about meant to be. I've never shown our function room in a pair of shorts before but on that day it was all by chance and with the restrictions in place it added to the whole adventure and fun of it all. Again thank you for your kind words and we hope you have many fond memories of the day for years to come.
