This is one of the most delightful places we stayed during our Japan visit! The tatami rooms are spotless and comfortable; we were upgraded to the 12-tatami room which was very nice with its own shower. We were picked up at the station by our host, and brought to the station too upon leaving. He also organised a lovely dinner...

We spent one night in Tono because we wanted to see somewhere a bit more out of the way in Tohoku. Toshihiro was kind enough to meet our train at the station and to transport us around during our stay. I will note that this is necessary if you visit in winter - we didn't know this but the city...

I stayed 3 nights in Tono and I stayed at B&B Kuraya : the hosts were very nice and so helpful for everything: drive from the train station, restaurant advice, museum advice, and talking about the valley and the tales! The food was excellent! I really felt at home :) very good place to go !

This is a fantastic place to stay - the two owners were incredibly welcoming and professional with excellent English. The location is just outside Tono, which might only be an issue if you didn't have your own transport. (Although our host drove us into town for dinner so that we could drink.) The room was really warm, comfortable and struck...

My husband and I stayed with Toshihiro and his wife early in October. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer not only to enjoy their hospitality but to also explore the valley in more depth. Next time! Toshihiro corresponded promptly in excellent English via email and was waiting for us at the station as agreed. We loved our...

We stayed at B&B Kuranoya in the Tōno valley for three nights in May and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We were looking for a quiet rural break in the middle of our busy exploration of Northern Honshu and we were so happy we found such a great place. All email and phone contact in english with the owner Toshihiro...

We stayed for 2 nights in September during the Matsuri festival of Tono. Excellent service we receive from the owners: they picked us up upon arrival at Tono train station, we let our luggage, they drove us back to the station in order for us to rent bicycles, and they helped us with the tourist information staff. After check out,...

I stayed here with a friend from Tono. The owners were extremely friendly, taking the time to explain the local stories and history to the guests (their English is fantastic). They also were able to drive us into town to a local restaurant for dinner and pick us up again. I would recommend Kuranoya to anybody looking to spend time...
