We stayed for one night in order to walk Oirase stream and break up our travel around Aomori. We just loved this place. The locals know where it's at; the other hotel guests were all Japanese. Perhaps this is why the hotel isn't rated higher on TA... It is perfectly located with Lake Towada right in front of the hotel...

The Towadako Lakeside was a hotel with traditional Japanese setting. As all rooms were located on the 2nd floor, we needed to bring our luggage up the long flight of stairs but the Manager would help if required. Half-board stay was offered with breakfast and dinner, mainly with popular local food and flavour, in the restaurant with good view of...

Excellent Service. Right by the lakeside. Fantastic traditional japanese breakfast and dinner. Super value for money! Wifi throughout. CLEAN with inhouse onsen. I was a single traveller and the staffs went the lengths to make me comfortable as I arrived right at the beginning of the season and was the only guest at the hotel. The breakfast and dinner alone...

Went for autumn colour and got it, especially in nearby Oirase Valley. Very friendly and helpful staff here and good food. Nice touches such as fruit left in your room each evening. Onsen helps relax you before dinenr and generous yukata means you feel at home for dinner. We had spacious room directly over the entrance but no noise issues....

Although far from major transportation, Towada Lake is a must for any visitor to Japan and this hotel is a gem! My wife and I stayed here as a romantic long weekend getaway and could not be happier with our choice of hotel. The staff we more than friendly, they were like family. The Hotel Manager set us up in...

this ryokan was very pleasant. we had stayed at the much larger hotel towado the night before so at first we were a bit disappointed by the small onsen; however, the difference was the staff. The people were very attentive - the same person serves you the kaisekiryori dinner and the wonderful breakfast, the food was local, high quality and...

I had a great time here. I spent 5 nights. A few days were spent exploring Oirase (I didn't manage to explore the entire length!) and other days I lazed around/read a book/hiked along the coast of the lake etc. Armed with a JR Pass, I took the JR buses servicing the area frequently for no extra charge. I booked...

We (non-Japanese speaking family) stayed here in September 2011 for two nights. The staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful - it was more like staying in someone's home than a hotel. It's unpretentious and not fancy; the rooms are very simple. We stayed in Japanese-style rooms and enjoyed them, but there isn't much storage space if you...
