We stayed here for two nights and it was a fabulous place to stay , the staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was very good even though they had weddings and childrens parties every day they still made our stay very pleasant indeed . The grounds & the pools were great to explore as well but the hotel , both inside and outside was magnificent to view.
I stayed for just one night as part of a large group tour and our one night wasn't ideal - very rainy and blustery, so no real chance for us to explore the grounds or see the views. We also arrived on the same evening the hotel was hosting a large wedding, and it was obvious that most of the staff were focused on that event for the evening (which went on, with loud music, for a large part of the evening). I understand that the appeal of this hotel is a nostalgic trip to the past, in a 'fancy' setting but I would rather have had better amenities that were more modernized. The room in general was just fine and comfortable, although the comforters on the bed seemed to be cleaned or sprayed with something very heavily fragranced - we had to put them in the armoire because the smell was giving us headaches! Dinner was OK - our group had very mixed experiences with the meat dish that was served (some overdone, some very raw) but breakfast was better - some of the best croissants I've had. All in all, I don't think I would stay there again, and I would make sure it is the type of hotel experience you're looking for before booking.…
WHen I first visited La Sonrisa back 15 years ago I hoped that this would last forever. It is a place to experience the past with the beauty of what we expect in Naples from the 60's with touches of today. Since Emma has become the leader of such a great era of the past, it is a reminder of both her parents. Her dad loved his role in running this place and creating all of what he stood for. Today I see that Emma is the daughter they really would be prd of. Her husband and life long fortress has made this place an experience. Enjoy the fountains the weddings and especially their hard work and achievements. Don;t miss this place. It is a real experinece
My family enjoyed a night a Grand Hotel La Sonrisa on the way to Pompeii. Pleasant restaurant with friendly staff and first-class views of Mount Vesuvius from our room balcony. Safe and plentiful parking. Hearty breakfast. About 10-15 minutes from Pompeii by car.
Our party of 14 visited the Naples area to help celebrate my 70th birthday. The hotel is amazing. It reminded me of the palace of Versailles. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was overlooked by Vesuvius. Children had a great time in the very ornate pool. We had wonderful weather for the four day visit . Only problem is you really need a car to visit places like Sorrento and Pompeii
