The Hotel La Casona del Patio is located in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, it has 20 comfortable double rooms with TV, air conditioning / heating, safe and mini-bar. The hotel is well situated in the countryside is ideal for enjoying the surrounding nature for both adults and children. It wasn’t particularly cold outside, but at altitude and in January, we expected to have some heating, in our bedroom and in the public areas. The bedroom had aircon that seemed incapable of heating even though set to 32C when we arrived. Fortunately there was a small noisy electric fan heater in the wardrobe, so we pressed it into service. But the big bathroom with marble everywhere had no heating or ventilation other than that window that could be shut or open wide, nothing in between. At breakfast everyone was dressed for outdoors and the girl on the desk was in a thermal top with a big scarf. Did the architect only visit in summer? In summer it would have been great, our bedroom being comfortably furnished and spacious. Our half board dinner was excessive and only of reasonable quality. Guests who had stayed a few nights before said their helpings were meagre, so for our stay the chef must have overreacted. The cold breakfast was pretty good, but the advertised hot extras had been precooked and left to keep warm, solidified scrambled eggs and undercooked bacon. Could do better!

To me, what makes a great hotel an outstanding one is the staff, and without exception, every single member of staff that we encountered in our 8 night stay was amazing. Our wheelchair accessible room was in the main hotel building and was large with a comfortable bed. The bathroom has twin sinks, a bath/overhead shower as well as wet room shower. Breakfast has an excellent choice of delicious and healthy food and the restaurant staff that served us each evening were always polite, friendly and very attentive. A special mention has to be made of Eduardo the waiter - every restaurant needs an Eduardo! He was fantastic and made every meal special with a good knowledge of the local wines and always very cheerful (plus perfect English too). The reception staff are super friendly and when my husband lost his wallet containing our every cent and credit card (plus personal ID) on day one, they went to the ends of the earth to help, including allowing him use of the hotel telephone and helping with reporting the loss to the local police. A complimentary glass of Cava on arrival is a lovely touch and the comfortable lounge with log fire is a great place for an afternoon drink - always served with a smile. The hotel location is stunning, in a quiet town with mountain views. We had an amazing stay and would stay here again with no hesitation.

The hotel is really nice and quiet. Close to all the attractions like Masca, Los Gigantes or Teide national park. The staff was kind and helpful. Hotel is cycling friendly with the option to rent a bike from a local bike rent company.

The restaurant is situated in the old winery on this quaint hotel property on the edge of the town of Santiago Del Teide. A perfect location for a lingering leisurely Sunday lunch. The food is fairly traditional. Not haute cuisine but comforting and very satisfactory.

Loved this hotel, only a short drive from the beaches but an altogether different climate: cooler and quieter. The local town has a few cafes and there are good walks to do, maps are available from reception. Hotel staff were without fail genuinely helpful and friendly. Great breakfast, with fresh juicing and eggs cooked to order. The food was great, with a good choice on the menu. It is possible to buy the half board the course menu, which has a good choice, for 18euro as well as the al a carte menu. Ignore previous reviews about a poor selection of food, some regular guests told us that the chef/manager has changed since then. There is a good size lounge with a fire and TV, and many other areas both indoor and outdoor that are good to read or chat. Our room (the only one left when we booked was an executive) was large with a good sized sofa and a huge bathroom - see pics. The hotel seemed popular for walkers and cyclists, and many of the guests were English. In February it was cool, even cold, in the evenings outside, and very pleasant (about 15 oC) in the daytime. Driving down to the coast temperature rose to 22oC. If you do the volcano, advise to pre-book online to avoid queues and get there before 10:30 to park. When we visited it was -2oC at the top. There is free parking at the hotel.
