Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As ruinas do velho castelo até que estão em bom estado. No seu interior funciona um pequeno restaurante e tem uma bela vista do Reno. O castelo é um dos castelos da famosa história dos irmão inimigos.

+/- Burg Sterrenberg
+ We stayed here overnight after getting married at the Castle (Burg). It was very convenient to use as a staging area before the ceremony to store our belongings, change our clothes for the wedding, and collect the gifts. The room served its purpose well.
+/- Very austere location but that is the adventure of staying at a medieval castle.
- The property, not the building where the rooms are, is accessible by anyone, there is no security.
+ Check-In
+ Check in was quick and easy but key hand-over had to be coordinated prior to arrival, because there isn’t someone at the Burg all the time.
+ Personnel – Were very helpful and friendly
+ Free parking in parking lot outside the castle walls is about 70 meter away and the nearest parking spot inside the castle walls is about 20 meters way. So, one has to be able to move their own suitcases and other items themselves from car to room. There is no bell boy!
- Billing – We could only book two nights not less and the amount had to be paid ahead.
- BREAKFAST:
- There is none.
+/- ROOM:
+ Room rustic and austere. But that is what one would expect from a medieval castle. The room was clean except for the beetles that were on all the windows; inside.
+ Kitchen area with a refrigerator, microwave, kitchen sink, with kitchen utilizes, plates, glasses, etc.
+ Selection of books to read
- No safe
- No Iron and Ironing board
- No Telephone
- No TV
+ Desk with chair
+ A small stand to hang clothes with + hangers in stand
- No window insect screens
+/- Small windows but that is to be expected at a Castle
- Windows could not be opened fully due to the window shades
+/- No drapes – but windows did have window shades
+ Very quiet and comfortable
+ Heating – Worked very well. + It was so warm in the room that we had to turn down the radiators. - I also believe that the heat caused the beetles to come in through the fireplace and collect on the windows. – Fireplace could not be used, due to new environmental laws.
- Lighting in the room was OK, but weak. + Lamps on either side at the head of the bed.
- No trash can.
+ BATHROOM:
+ Clean with everything one needs. Shower Gel, Hair Dryer, tissues, wash cloth, hand towels, bath towels, floor towel, etc.
+ When in the bathroom, one did not have to stand out of the way to open or close the bathroom door.
+ Toilet was quiet when flushed
+ Large Shower
+ Water was always hot but never too hot that it could have scalded me, even when the handle was too its limit.
+ Enough towels
- No scale for weighing suitcase(s)
- ROOM SERVICE:
- None
+/- SERVICES:
+ Free Parking with a big parking lot and enough parking spaces
- No designated disabled parking spaces
+/- There are two rooms. One room is accessible for the disabled at the ground level. The second room is up a flight of stairs and there is only the narrow staircase. The stairs curve around and are so narrow that I would get claustrophobia using them. It would be difficult taking a suitcase up these stairs. And therefore, I doubt the upstairs room is accessible by wheel chair.
+ Internet connection was sporadic – Internet didn’t work in every area on the property
- No laundry service, no laundry room or self-serve washers and dryers
- No reception desk or small store with necessary items like bottled water and soft drinks, razors, toothpaste, etc. If you did bring it with you but needed anything, one has to go into town to get it.
- No exercise room with exercise machines, weights, and TVs
- No Swimming Pool
- No Bathroom Scale for weighing suitcase
- INTERNET: It is not easy to find this location on the internet. I had to search a while with the location’s name until I found it. And I only found it because I knew from the establishment that they had two rooms available.
+ A great rustic but austere place to stay overnight, that adds a little adventure to life. Don’t expect a reception desk, concierge, valet parking, bell boy, carpeted floor, big windows with a view, telephone, dishwasher, exercise room, laundry service or laundry room, room service, or a TV.
+/- We would but probably stay here again, but may never have the opportunity or need to stay here again.

Wir haben uns für 2 Tage Urlaub genommen und sind durch TripAdvisor zufällig auf der Burg gelandet. Hatten ein super Essen mit erstklassigem Ambiente. Das Personal ist sehr kompetent und flexibel. Danke an alle.
