Very well run family business, on the banks of the Rhine, built within a rocky gorge leading away from the river, and crucially, well above flood levels. My en suite room was very comfortable and clean, with a huge double bed. The shower room also had the lavatory, but the wash hand basin was in the corner of the bedroom. This is unusual, and meant that one had to leave the shower room for hand washing and makeup application, which meant that all toiletries had to be in the bedroom, which was very inconvenient. Also the huge bed, was lengways across the room, and obstructed the door of the shower room, greatly limiting the amount it could be opened, and the door had to be closed in order to get out into the bedroom and get across to the wash hand basin. I tried to wash my hands under the shower, but that didn't work, and in any case there was no shelf in the shower room for toiletries. Perhaps a rebuild of the shower room should be contemplated?
The hotel kitchen worked really hard to accommodate my allergy to meat, after the first night, and special dishes were prepared, which were wonderful.
Unfortunately vegetarianism is still being classified as 'a lifestyle choice ', but for some of us there is no choice, as we become very ill if meat is hidden in soup or sauces. The soup was the first night culprit, resulting in a very difficult anxious time next day!
Dispite these problems, I had a very enjoyable stay. I just have to be extra vigilant the next time I visit Germany!
The hotel is accessed above ground level and there an amazing three routes to get up there! A very steep set of stone steps, a longer ramp style stairs, or a small lift. A wonderful choice! Reception is rather cramped, being part of the corridor on the way to the two restaurants, and up a short flight of external steps. They were pebble coated, so non slip, but this meant that coming down, the step edges couldn't be seen by those with visual impairment! ...orange paint edging perhaps?

We have recently arrived back from a coach tour staying at this delightful hotel. We arrived very late in the evening and were offered food but we declined this kind offer as we were too tired. The room was basic, but very clean and we were lucky enough to have a balcony room so we left the door open at night for a comfortable night's sleep
must say, the bells didn't disturb our sleep
The food was basic but plentiful and edible as were the continental breakfast
Dinner was served on the terrace the only problem was the wasps we were besieged with them
We found the owners and staff to be very friendly and welcoming and we really enjoyed our stay at this charming hotel and will return sometime

Absolutely brilliant hotel with delicious food, and the most amazing friendly and helpful staff. It made our holiday a joyful experience. The rooms were spacious and spotless, and when we arrived later than planned because of road closures at Boppard, the staff unloaded all our luggage for us while we went into dinner which was served by the staff who stayed on to serve us. I would definitely say there again.

My two sons and I stayed here as part of a Harry Shaw holiday.

This is in a lovely setting in the Rhine Valley. Some of the places to visit are quite far away and maybe I should have googled that beforehand. When we went there were a lot of road closures which lead to diversions etc. When booking you have to remember that this is pretty much in the middle of no where.

We had a family room and it was very clean. It was a bit strange the sinks being in the bedroom. The pillows were uncomfortable. The towels were changed every day and the beds made for us.

Andreas is a fantastic owner and very friendly, he speaks excellent English. His staff could take some inspiration from his customer service skills. You could not fault his enthusiasm and ability to make your stay one to remember.

The food was ok but one of my children refused to eat it (think he is a food critique at 15). The breakfasts are typically continental but very basic. There could be improvements made to the menu. The lady who serves the food in the restaurant could do with improving her customer service skills to say the least. My children found her quite scary and so did I (It was not service with a smile). She only seemed happy on the day everyone left and was outside waving us off (Probably thinking thank goodness they have gone). The place did remind me a bit of Fawlty Towers.

I think that this place has a lot of potential and room for improvement but obviously this would lead to higher prices and at the end of the day you do not go away to sit in your room.

It would be handy if they took card payments as a lot of people on the trip had not taken a lot of Euros so they were stuck, I understand that a lot of places in Europe prefer cash to card payments.

If I was travelling through Germany I would use this place for a stop over but would not go as part of a coach trip as it was too far to travel.

We booked a trip to the North Coast in honour of a friend of ours who loved the seaside. In less than 24 hours Skills Coaches cancelled our holiday. Their excuse was that it was cancelled due to C-19, but the seats were already 2 metres apart and they confirmed this the day before stating we would not sit together because the seats had to be 2m apart and we agreed to this. Yet today Skills Coaches in Nottingham cancelled our holiday, after we had prepared for it. It's odd that the only two ethnics to book the trip were forced to cancel and no refund has yet been paid, even though we have asked for this 3 times.

I stayed at the hotel Wagner with a large group, namely the Unity Concert band. We were made very welcome, especially when we arrived nearly 2 hours late because of roadworks. The staff stayed late to serve us a delicious dinner, and the manager unloaded all our instruments and luggage for us while we ate. The rooms are large and spotless, and the food is delicious. There is also a lovely large outdoor veranda with an outside bar, One guest needed wheelchair facilities and he was very well catered for. The whole week was very enjoyable, enhanced by the very friendly staff. I would certainly stay there again.

We have just had a very comfortable stay at this quirky hotel.
Arrived @12 midnight after a long journey with a coach company.
Despite this the hotel provided soup, bread and sandwiches and kept the bar open.
Porterage was used to remove suitcases from coach which was great. However being directed to our rooms was ridiculous.
The hotel is a maze of stairs and corridors but thankfully there is a lift when the legs get tired.
The room was basic but clean, with a comfortable very large double.
No aircon and with temperatures in the 30’s they soon became extremely unbearable. Sleep was minimal due to the heat and also the church bell at the bottom of the road.
Breakfast was typically German and ample for a busy days touring.
Dinner was always a surprise as there is no menu in sight and only one choice, usually meat, potatoes, chips and a vegetable. Occasionally some very wet, vinegary salad is provided.
This is followed by a tiny pudding, dressed up with a touch of squirty cream. We only had entertainment one night.
Staff are friendly. Ida is in charge it would appear, despite looking fierce, she actually has a good sense of humour.
Overall we paid a basic price and got a basic stay. I would return though as it is situated in a beautiful area of the Rhine Valley.

We stayed at Hotel Wagner as members of a wind band touring the area. We found the hotel to be very comfortable and clean. The food and service were excellent. The terrace bar was lovely.

Our host, Andreas, and all his staff were most welcoming, cheerful and helpful.

We hope to return in the future!!

Went to this hotel for a school trip. force fed me soup every night that just tasted like dishwater with some floating vegetables in it. felt physically sick after trying to eat it. shower was good but sink was in the room so highly impractical. bed was uncomfortable; just a 3-section mattress with built in pillow that made me lay at almost 180°. one of our dorm mates almost fell out of the window as they open very wide.

worst hotel i’ve been to. the potato soup was served every night with a new vegetable sprinkled sparsely on top it to catfish us. soup was bland but managed to leave a sour taste in my mouth, could barely eat a single spoon. my cheese sandwich has a lone fly in it and i was about to take a sad munch into it when i realised abruptly. if the food didn’t make me cry enough, the cold water tap fell off, the hot tap caused there degree burns and the showers switched from one extreme temperature to the next. my friend got bit by a bug bed in her ear and she hasn’t been able to hear since. which comes as no surprise as they haven’t changed the sheets since 1925. the man made a quite racist comment and brushed over it like it was nothing. i fear i will land in hospital due to the incredibly poor hygiene of the food, incapability to shower without getting scorching burns and a worker who is easily angered. i have heard many say they were out on drip after eating the food. God save me from this hotel and this soup.

I am not sure whether there are single rooms, probably twins for single use. Room 44 is a twin, comfortable and clean but close to the church and it's bells, although I found this relaxing! Take earplugs if you are a light sleeper as trains run 24/7 and are very close. I understand rooms facing the back are quieter. Lovely location but a 20 minutes walk to the main part of the village with its facilities. Have a great time if you go.
