I booked this hotel based on it's proximity to Melk, as we were going to tour the Abbey. The location is hard to beat, convenient to Melk, and the restaurants there. It has plenty of parking too if you have a car. The room itself was very nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good as well, a large selection available. And the staff we spoke with in the morning were nice, friendly and helpful, recommending some towns to drive to after we were done with visiting the Abbey. It was also reasonably priced. We didn't eat at the restaurant on site, it was closed the evening we stayed.
Which is a shame as the hotel has a lot to offer. Emmersdorf is really pretty and the hotel well located. The bedroom which was in the new part of the hotel was really excellent and one of the nicest I’ve stayed in. The evening meal and breakfast were good. What let’s it down is the staff. Reception staff were a bit on the miserable side but the star of the show was the guy serving drinks outside. We weren't made to feel welcome at all by this chap in fact quire the opposite. Every drink ordered seemed to cause him personal pain He wins the prize for the most miserable member of hotel staff I have ever met. Comically miserable! It’s a shame because in every other way it’s a really lovely place.
Nice hotel and good sized rooms and most of the staff are friendly and helpful but Mr waiter is such a miserable so and so, food is very nice and plentiful and if you get a river view even better, bit out of the way but worth a visit
Rather impersonal hotel. We arrived as part of a bike tour, dripping wet, having crossed the high bridge from Melk - but didn't feel any level of sympathy from the staff for our dripping predicament! (In other hotels we were taken straight to the drying room and shown where we could dry our clothes). The bike garage was overcrowded and it was difficult to get our bikes in - not the hotel's fault as maybe other cyclists had just abandoned their bikes, blocking the access, without thinking of other cyclists. Our bedroom was at the back of the hotel overlooking another building and with a glimpse of the Danube - it was modern and clean and functional and newly furnished but felt rather utilitarian, all hard shiny surfaces - no rugs for example. Dinner was good and tasty with a very helpful waiter. The dining room was large with a central bar area - though we still find the Austrian habit of having smokers at the bar in an open plan area where diners eat rather unpleasant. Breakfast was plentiful and very friendly staff helped us find what we needed. Agree with a previous reviewer, I would probably rather have stayed somewhere more characterful in Melk.…
This place was pre-booked for me as part of a bicycle trip. The room I was given (207) is at the end of building. Therefore, the slanted external roof is part of the room's ceiling. It was "interesting" getting into and out of the shower. I banged my head getting into bed. The internet is fast. The breakfast was great. The room was warm -- opening a window (to cool off the room) let in a yellow jacket wasp. With the windows closed, the birds were heard chirping at 5 AM. Dinner was OK. This is a modern hotel. The bed was comfortable. Better would have been a hotel in Melk.
