Nestled near University College Dublin, Radisson Blu St. Helen's Hotel garners praise for its convenient location and stunning grounds. However, guests have called out the need for improvements in both the amenities and room maintenance. While the service is generally commended for staff friendliness, there are occasional reports of delays. Despite the charm of its old-world atmosphere, the hotel faces criticism over room quality and perceived value, with some travelers feeling the experience doesn't justify the cost.

I really do love this hotel for when I travel over to Dublin - its location is excellent for getting to many different areas, and it is in a quiet location for noise levels. There is good free parking and I never had a problem finding a space. The hotel grounds are really very pleasant.

Staff are good and the breakfast staff are especially friendly and remembered I was a repeat customer, which was nice. Reception staff are a little more surly, but are efficient.

I have never used the bar or restaurant so can not comment, but the breakfast is very good with a really good choice, and the quality is excellent. It is buffet style but you can order porridge or poached eggs etc to order if you like.

The bed is extremely comfortable and the room is well equipped with everything you could possibly need, and is exceptionally clean - the housekeeping team are really good and replenish all toiletries and tea and coffee daily, which doesn’t always happen in hotels these days without asking. I found the ice machine on my floor by the lifts very handy. My only negative of the room would be that they had decommissioned the mini bar fridge in the room, which is a shame as it could have been used to keep the bottled water cool and for storing milk if staying for a few days, which I was.

WiFi in the room is very good, and I was able to stream, and work in the evenings with no problem at all. I was not disturbed from any other residents during either of my visits and had extremely good nights sleep throughout.

I have stayed at the hotel twice for a week at a time, and have already booked for another trip next month - that is how good it is!

With the pubic rooms in a historic manor, Radisson Blu St. Helen's offers a special experience. The guest room I had was large, had a view onto what was once the manor park, and was comfortably woody in the Anglo-Irish tradition. The bathroom included both a tub and stall shower, as well as heated towel rack. The breakfast choices were exceptionally broad, and included made-to-order eggs and specialty coffee.

What a place to be, came here on my holiday woth my partner and all I can say is WOW! When arriving at this location you feel like your walking towards a Manor. Easy bus route there and to town if you wish and cheap as well. When walking towards the building they had a lovely fountain out front which was beautiful. We came in January so it was cold so unfortunately didn't see the gardens in its full bloom however assessing the grass and surroundings you can tell its very well maintained and clean. When walking in the front doors your welcomed by a lovely lit fireplace with another lit fireplace in the reception area. Upon checking in the staff was lovey and made us feel very welcome not only to the hotel but to dublin, also robbed some free sweets hehe. When entering our room everything was clean, not 1 fault at all or even dirt. The shower was working perfect, heating was working and the coffee station was all stocked up daily. Plenty of space and plenty of space for storage. We had a lovely view of the gardens out the back as well and would definitely recommend to come here in summer season to see the lovely garden in its full bloom. We didn't buy the breakfast deal only daily because we didn't think we would have breakfast but turns out every day we did, we was welcomed and its a all you can eat type of breakfast which was cooked perfectly. You can even request scrambled or poached egg and many other things if you so wish. The restaurant food was fantastic the only thing is, it's small portions however filling and you must try there cocktails. I'm a mixologist myself and with there cocktails all I can say was perfect quantity of alcohol to soft drink. Sorry I didn't get any names but all the staff was fantastic and played a very professional and formal role 👏 when I next visit dublin I would be staying again, cannot rate the spa as didn't use but did check the gym out and there's not much I can say apart from its a gym and clean. No pool but the spa makes up for this. Thank you for an amazing experience and making the trip loveable.

The location is convenient if you need to be near University College Dublin, but there's not much else within walking distance. The exterior of the hotel is impressive, and considering the price I paid, I had high expectations. While the staff were friendly, their service fell short. Unfortunately, the decline of what was once a stately hotel was evident.

My room was missing a light bulb in the only lamp, and despite asking the front desk for a replacement, it was never taken care of during my three-night stay. The bathroom was also concerning, with significant mold in the shower grout that easily came off with a little rubbing, indicating it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. To make matters worse, the sink faucet only provided hot water—running the cold tap only made it hotter!

The most troubling issue was the mattress, which had visible stains and was only covered by a thin sheet with no mattress pad. When I brought these concerns to the reception desk upon checkout, they offered to remove the cost of one breakfast from my bill.

I stay in hotels over 50 nights a year. I'm disappointed to leave a negative review, but if Radisson is charging over $300 per night, they need to maintain their rooms to a much higher standard.

I stay in hotels all over the world and this is absolutly not a 5 star hotel ,barely a three. I have known this hotel for years and decided to book for a 4 day trip. On arrival the main building is lovely, serving staff in the bar and resturant were very friendly although young and inexperienced and the main grounds are well cared for. Thats where the positives stop. As a VIP location for Expedia and with my platinum status I should he’s been offered a room upgrade and discount on a meal spend. I was never offered this. The hotel listed EV chargers. All were out of order. When we got to the room it was 13 degrees and would not go up. They sent someone to look at it and it was stuck then at 27 degrees for a few hours before returning to 13 degrees. The list of items that were not working kept growing, the fridge in the room as well as the kettle. The decor was tired and dirty in places with loose sockets, cracked tiles in the bathroom and ripped lampshades. We had a light in the rooms internal hallway that kept flashing all night. The icemaker in the hallway also did not work. Then weirdly the bar closed at 11 midweek which almost every person I spoke with thought was way too early and the prices were more in keeping with the tourist traps in the city. Sadly I would seriously think twice about booking here this Fawlty Towers agIn.

We go to Ireland a few times per year to visit family and this Radisson is a great location so we have been staying there for the last couple of years and always were happy with it but, this trip we had some problems that were more than we could ignore. We stayed there our first week in Dublin and upon going to our room it smelled very musty and the AC wasn't working, then after putting our passports into the safe the light flashed that the battery was dead and it couldn't be opened on top of that both phones weren't working to call the front desk and the metal cap on the TP dispenser was broken exposing very sharp sides. We did contact the desk regarding the safe problem and after about 30 minutes someone show up but, didn't bring the key to open it and disappeared for another 30 minutes before opening it up and installing new batteries. But the smell and the heat of the room persisted the entire time we were there and if you park in the underground parking, you'll see all the water dripping and the smell of mildew is even stronger than inside the rooms.
We went down to visit friends for a few days and had already booked and paid to stay back at the Radisson so hoping we would get a better room we went back. The room was better but, the same musty smell still existed, and the room was still hot.
In our opinion the hotel is just in desperate need of some updates with the bathtubs being very narrow and hard to step into and a few other things that just seem to not being addressed. For the most part the staff is very helpful and nice especially in the restaurants/bar areas but, the people at the front desk don't seem to know how to address problems that occur.
Thanks, Radisson, for being a good place for us for a few years but, were moving on to another hotel next time were in town.

Having booked a 2 night stay in a Superior Room for me and my 2 sisters we arrived and were greeted by Jon who informed us we had been upgraded. We arrived in our room to find the room was set up for 2 people. 2 towels, 2 cups, 2 waters and so on. We made our initial complaint to Luis who informed us the information they had received was that we had booked a family room so they genuinely believed they had upgraded us. What felt like a disingenuous apology he admitted the room should have been set up for 3 people.
We go out for the day to find housekeeping had been in and made the beds left all the dirty glasses (no replacements) the coffee cups we had brought up to our rooms from breakfast were still in the room and despite the conversation at reception the room was still serviced for 2 people.
I telephoned down to reception to inform them that yet again the room was serviced for 2. A few minutes later some surly faced woman knocked the day to basically inform us that they did not have any information telling them that 3 people were in the room implying that we had not booked for 3. I was absolutely incensed at the audacity of the woman. I am a Radisson member and have stayed in many Radisson Hotels and can honestly say this is the worse experience ever. I do not recommend you stay at this hotel and waste your hard earned money. I am more than happy to spend money for a high quality hotel / experience this was a poor experience. The customer experience from certain demographic of staff is poor and they should not public facing.

The hotel scores with its beautiful park-like garden, which is great for an al fresco breakfast in fine weather and its friendly and courteous staff.
The hotel complex itself is located just south of the city, very quiet in the countryside and the nearest DART station and the sea are within walking distance (in about 20 minutes).
Staff was always very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are spacious but also very old and need an update.
The minibar was broken (cable cut off) and therefore neither filled nor usable for own drinks. Behind the minibar we found cutlery from guests who had probably lived in the room sometime before us.
The windows cannot be opened but can only be easily displayed. We turned off the air conditioning because it was very noisy. There was a very limited TV channel selection and no German channels at all (is better in other 5-star hotels in Dublin).
Breakfast was ok...irish (British) standard: no whole milk, scrambled eggs not from real eggs but an indefinable baglet egg mud, no good bread or rolls. Food at Talavera Restaurant was ok.
All in all, the hotel is equivalent to a 4-star hotel at most, but by no means has a 5-star rating and is therefore overpriced.

Night in Dublin to visit our middle son in UCD. The location is great with just a 10 minute walk to the college campus.

We had wanted to treat our son to a nice dinner in the hotel but knew we’d be arriving late. I emailed the hotel a couple of days before to let them know we’d be arriving 9/9:30 and confirm we could still get dinner in the restaurant. When we checked in at 9:25 we were told the restaurant wasn’t serving any more and the only option was to get room service. I asked if we could get room service food to one of the many open lobby and bar areas, so we could be social and have a drink while eating, but this was refused. So the three of us sat round a tiny table in our room - a bit sad, and would have been easily accommodated downstairs.

The hotel was grand once, but rooms and breakfast area are looking very dated and a bit grubby. Sink in room wouldn’t drain, which I really don’t like as the cleaning staff would know and should fix.

Great location for the college but could and should be much better on service and upkeep.

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. My friends and I stayed here at the beginning and end of our week long trip and still think about the beds/pillows that live here. We have never had such a good nights sleep as we did while staying at this hotel. The staff at this hotel was also amazing. They made sure both of our stays we had a portable fan, extra towels, and even upgraded us for our last night in Dublin. The room itself was very spacious and provided enough room for 3 adults. We ate at the hotel bar restaurant for lunch when we arrived and the food was excellent. I will say the actual Italian restaurant in the hotel itself was not worth it. We tried to eat there but literally only 1 server was working and was clearly overwhelmed, with only 2 other tables besides us. We looked at the menu and quickly decided that room service was cheaper and offered a better selection, so we ended up going back to our room and ordering from the menu provided. Room service was a 10/10 - pro tip the pizzas are huge and you can share them with multiple people. The grounds of the actual hotel are also lovely and overall everything about this place is great. It's about 15-20 mins from Dublin city center so if you're looking for a location that is outside the city but also easily accessible this is great. We also never had an issue calling a taxi/uber and most were waiting right outside the hotel itself.
