We had a fabulous time here. Location is close to the airport but the plane noise is not really bothersome, is not a very busy airport, it’s nice not too have a long transfer back and forth in fact. The town of Santa Cruz is within walking distance and has a lovely square for dinner in the evenings.

Staff at the hotel are wonderful, all so friendly and professional, is a rare treat these days to have service of that standard and Costa in particular is a great representative for the hotel.

Rooms are a great size, stunning sea views, spotlessly clean and well looked after by the staff. Very fast free wi-fi. Slept very well too which is most important. Pools are lovely particularly the ones down by the sea and a pretty garden with some impressive cactuses.

Meals were all excellent, some lovely seafood in particular and the waiters did a great job. Only improvement would be to have a bit of a lounge bar area, somewhere to sit and have a drink after dinner. You could sit outside in the summer but the weather was a bit showery and windy so it would be nice to have somewhere inside at this time of year.

Overall a really special place, I wouldn’t hesitate to return and thanks to all the staff there for a great holiday.

Tranquility awaits although nearby to the airport but very little noise. This very unique hotel offers impeccable standards of service with great attention to detail.
Reception offer immediate assistance and a warm and friendly welcome and Costa is a fine ambassador for the company with his professionalism, warmth and gorgeous English speaking voice, although Madeiran. We have enjoyed many chats.

Location is a little away from Funchal but there are taxis, although a bit pricey, you could go to airport to catch buses into Funchal for a few euros. A shuttle could take you to the airport from the Hotel. Santa Cruz is a short walk away with public transportation links. Also hiring a car could be utilised.
The guest rooms are spotless and very comfortable and a basket of fruit, water, robes, slippers and Molton Brown toiletries await you. Tea and coffee facilities with a Nespresso coffee machine, free safe and WiFi and free bottle of water.
There are good facilities here with pool choices, sitting room and library and a gym.
Excellent breakfast included with eggs to order, delicious omelettes and freshly squeezed orange juice.
The dining and function room is outstanding in its design with high beamed ceilings and beautiful tiled area at the bar.
Everything about this country style hotel exudes impeccably good taste but it's relaxed and genuinely friendly and families are welcomed.
We spent a couple of nights here just loving the experience of a small, quiet hotel with outstanding sea views and of the Desertas. There are many things to do and see around this area.
We have often looked at this hotel from passing by and sadly overlooked it to our misfortune but now that we have experienced its uniqueness we class it amongst our favourites and will return regularly during our yearly stay in our favourite place.

The Hotel manager is a highly experienced man with a fantastic vision to create an even better place for his guests to savour and we look forward to exciting new menus amongst many other additions.
This is a fabulous small tranquil country residence with impeccable standards and very dignified and we await to see how further improvements can make an already positive stay be even more so.
See you next year oh and booking direct offers better rates.

Quiet and peaceful even though it's only a stone's throw from the airport. We stayed 4 nights after 3 previous nights at a hotel in Funchal. It was a nice relaxing change from the hustle and bustle of Funchal. True 5 star service from faultless friendly staff. No hesitation in recommending this hotel, you will not be sorry.

We were made to feel very welcome by the staff at the hotel. The staff are very focused on enabling the guests to have a very positive experience. The room was beautiful and exceptionally clean and the swimming pools were easily accessible and well laid out. The standard of the food was very good and the staff were very attentive. This is a truly special hotel and well worth the visit. It would rank as one of the best hotels we have stayed at.
The fact that it only has 19 rooms allows the staff to be more personable and we definitely experienced this particularly with Costa on reception.

We stayed from Sept 21- 25. Upon arrival, staff showed us to our room and there was fresh fruit and a welcome note. The room was spotless and had a sea view. We swam everyday in the sea level ocean pool and my boyfriend enjoyed jumping into the ocean from the side of the pool. The grounds are beautiful and best of all, you feel like you are at a private resort as all together there are only 25 rooms in the whole resort. You don’t feel like you are crowded (often we would have the ocean level pool all to ourselves). Breakfast had great variety and was always fresh and delicious. Although close to the freeway, we couldn’t hear it and once you walk into the resort grounds it feels like a peaceful oasis. You could occasionally hear planes taking off but was not an issue and was not frequent at all/ not bothersome in the least. We had a rental car and found the location to be perfect for exploring the island and getting around. This isn’t like a chain 5 star hotel at all, there are many personal and unique touches that make it a truly special experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!
