We (couple with 3yr old son) spent 3 nights in Sonne hotel (Schiltach)' most beautiful room: Romantic one. We have been there as a couple only 5 years ago and wish to repeat the experience. We were again positively surprised by the Owners and staff' attitude- they made our stay there a great time! Food in a restaurant was perfect... More

My wife and I stayed in a double room and we very much enjoyed our stay. Cons: Room was a little dirty when we entered it. The bathroom was not decorated at all. The floor was a little creaky. All very minor things that simply affected the aesthetics of the place. Pros: Comfortable bed. Great views out the window. Plenty... More

We booked in for two nights in September on a road trip in southern Germany. Very welcoming staff. We had a room, Sonne, at the front of the hotel, overlooking the medieval town market square. Great view. Breakfast included, basic but sufficient, and a good restaurant in the evening. If you are used to anonymous international style hotels this might... More

Stayed for one night in July. Arrived late and was met with a welcome smile. Check in was quick. Bedroom was. Set up as requested with baby cot. Slept well and comfortable bed. Room very clean. Good towels and soap. Breakfast was excellent with good choices. Table with our name and baby chair were available and ready. We also had... More

The Gastof is in the centre of the lovely medieval village of Schiltach. The last time we stayed here on an outward journey a few years ago, this time we were on the route homeward. Without realising, our visit coincided with a major village festival to commemorate the logging history of the village apparently dating back to the 1300’s. The... More

Many German guest houses are like stepping back in time. Why should they change if it works? Forget uber cool, this is just a warm, friendly welcoming hotel overlooking a beautiful square in one of the most stunning villages that I've ever visited. Schilitach is picture postcard, it has a beautiful river, countless half timbered houses, amazing views and this... More

We had two experiences of Gastof Sonne, it's in a lovely spot in the market square in Schiltach, the first time we were looking for a post dinner drink at about 9.30pm on a Saturday night (this isn't a particularly late night town!). We had eaten well at our own Gasthoff Rossle and were taking an evening stroll. The man... More

The staff is very friendly. The guesthouse is in the centre of the old town, and Tourist information is a couple of doors down. There is a bus stop less than 2 mins walk - catch it from the train station. Not much to do here, one night is sufficient. I forgot there were no c/c facilities here and I... More

We stayed for one night while in the Black Forest. The town is picturesque, cobbled and on a hillside. The hotel was great and reasonably priced. The staff we so friendy and welcoming. They helped with luggage and where to park. It went beyond the call of duty yet was very much appreciated. Travel light or with overnight luggage, as... More
