As one of the owners of Windermere said to us, nature really does the bulk of the work here. The views are stunning and the trees around alive with birds and insects. Maybe I appreciated it more because I live in Delhi where the air is so awful, but it really is a place you want to drink in. The...

This is a low-key, simple retreat. (Our accommodation - more hostel than luxury hotel -reminded me of school journeys; with no turn down service it has a feeling of 'rustic charm'). But in retrospect, I regret not having considered a homestay in this area. Our large guest room was in one of the chalet style blocks, on the top floor...

The Windermere Estate is serene and calm with a glimpse of a simple life from India of Old. Nestled in a cardamom and coffee plantation it is a family owned place that is surrounded by natural beauty. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and finished with a dark wood. A true gem when visiting Munnar! Our only disappointment was that we...

First of all let me tell you that the pictures do not do this place or property justice. This place is everything you want and more. The guided hikes were wonderful, the food, beverages, and gorgeous views made this place absolutely worth every cent. The staff is fantastic, the grounds are beyond beautiful. This place won't disappoint!

We spent only one night at the Windermere estate. It is high in the mountains in the middle of nowhere. We had two rooms next to each other which were basic but had everything you need. The service was very friendly and helpful. First we had afternoon tea with some sandwiches which tasted very good. Nothing from out of the...

The setting is second to none, and our room in a 'planter's villa' was perched on the edge of the site and overlooked mountains and tea and cardamom plantations. Crested serpent eagles soared overhead and we felt as if we had borrowed their eyrie for a couple of nights. Windermere is smart and the emphasis is on simplicity: we felt...

We spent 5 nights at this lovely resort. We had originally planned only 3 nights, but couldn't bring ourselves to leave. It was not only that Munnar and the surrounding area are so unbelievably stunning, but the resort is lovely, relaxing, well maintained and delightful. We had two different rooms, one on the lower part of the grounds, very private,...

Stayd here as part of our Kerala tour. Food good, staff friendly. Wifi in two locations. Enjoyed the walk through the surrounding area with the young knowledgable guide. Loved having tea in the tea hut every afternoon. The evening of the BBQ was a great way to mix with other guests.

Spent two nights here and enjoyed our stay. Staff were welcoming and attentive - guiding you along the paths at night with torches. Our room was comfortable with and outside seating area- view obscured by tall plants immediately in front. Restaurant with library above have wifi. We loved taking tea in the tea hut.

If you have a pressing need to spend some time among tea plantations this is okay, just. Accommodation is in duplex cottages with verandahs offering spectacular valley views, or at least they would if the ground staff had not allowed foliage to grow so tall as to obscure the view completely. It's miles out of town so unless you have...
