I stayed in the Gateway hotel for one night while working in Mayo and was very impressed with it. The booking over the phone was efficient and I requested a room at the front of the hotel with a double bed which I got. The room was spacious modern and clean and the tv had multiple channels (which is frequently not available in other hotels in my experience) I had a meal in the bar (which had a varied menu) and had a pei peri chicken burger chips which was very nice. The highlight though was the breakfast - a lot of times you get ‘full Irish’ breakfasts around the country which just aren’t great and coffee that is weak and pretty tasteless but I had the Gateway’s mini Irish and it was absolutely delicious. Nicely cooked, not greasy and the black and white pudding was very tasty! I was asked would I like an Americano when I ordered coffee and it was excellent! I couldn’t fault anything. The final nice experience was as I was leaving my car was parked right outside the front door and it had been freezing the night before and also snowing, so as I tried to clear my windscreen, a man working in the hotel arrived out with a big bucket of water and did it for me! Chivalry is not dead! All in all a very good experience and I will definitely be returning. A top recommendation for a pub for a drink nearby by the way is Mellets just up the road. A group of us were looking for a place to eat in Swinford and by accident came across this hotel. The interior is bright and very comfortable with very friendly and professional staff. I have returned on a number of occasions and found the food excellent and good value. There is a wide selection of dishes with the food prepared fresh. Recommended.

Took my 85 yr old mum for and I thought the service was so bad was left standing at the door as asked my notice to wait to be seated in the end I found a table and sat down I had to go to the bar three times to ask for various things, there were 5 staff on and I couldn’t get one of them to make eye contact. I wrote directly to the hotel but they didn’t bother to respond,

We spent two nights in Swinford trying to locate the home of my Grandmother. The staff at the Gateway Hotel helped make our experience a pleasant one. They listened to us when we described our search and helped arrange for a taxi driver to take us to our search area in Ardhoom. Of course, the wonderful breakfasts at the hotel, provided as part of the fare, added to our good experience.

We had a fabulous dinner in the restaurant in the Gateway Hotel. I would highly recommend, very tasty food and catered for my dad who is vegan. Excellent service and very friendly staff. Will be visiting again soon!

Had a meal at the Gateway hotel for our 28th wedding Anniversary, the service was great and friendly. We both ordered the fish and chips and both didn't finish it ... batter was burnt, chips mine was raw in the middle and husbands was like bullets and to finish it off they put lumps of sea salt on the fish which was like eating grit. We will not be returning.

Nicest food so far on our holiday. Great service and reasonably priced. Our food was extremely fresh and plenty of it. Service was also fantastic and a lovely atmosphere. Definitely will go back again when I'm up around this side of the country.
