This was the most luxurious accommodation in which we stayed while in Costa Rica. It consists of a group of stunning individual buildings in a remote area of the country deep in the cloud forest. Our family stayed in the Quetzal Villa, which had a large central area with a dining area and an arrangement of chairs and leather couches...

I really loved this place, I was intially concerned due to its location. It's in the middle of the mountains, and getting there wooo, but once we got there it was magical. If you are looking for a vacation where you can disconnect and jsut be in nature, but have luxury amenties then this is the place. It's not the...

We spent 3 nights here in between 2 coastal all inclusives and it was the best part of our trip! The staff was fantastic and attended to our every need! The tour guides were knowledgable and added flare and culture to all of our experiences! The food was absolutly superb, my husband and I tried the majority of the menu...

I've stayed at a lot of small boutique hotels all over the world. El Silencio is by far the best service I have experienced. Upon arriving our luggage was whisked away (no tip needed, no person waiting for it) and we were welcomed by our personal concierge who made sure all our needs were immediately met. We had lunch while...

Whilst overall we enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Lodge, there is room for improvement, most noticeably with regard to the food service. I'll start with the positives. The Lodge is located amidst a cloud forest, where there are many birds and some waterfalls. All rooms I believe are individual suites, so have a nice degree of privacy, with screened...

We enjoyed El Silencio immensely, especially the nesting quetzals whom we watched for about 45 minutes and got close enough for some spectacular photos. We also took a hike with Ronald to a waterfall a little bit away from the property (mystery hike perhaps?). The water was an incredible blue color and a bit off the beaten track (although plenty...

Witnessing the majestic quetzal birds is a truly magnificent experience and we are thrilled that you were able to capture this wonder in images. We really appreciate your feedback as the best guide to improve our services. The blue waterfall you refer to is the Hidden Treasure... and we just found blue-colored pools at another hidden spot. Please return soon!

We arrived in the evening after a full day of sighting seeing. Check in was quick and efficient. We had a lovely lodge a short walk from the main building. It was comfortable, the heater had been turned on and the hot tub ready to use had we wanted to use it. As we had had a large lunch we...

Witnessing wild Quetzal birds is one of the most magnificent experiences. It is a mystical, mesmerizing creature and we are thrilled to have them nesting in our forest. Please do post images if possible! Warmest regards!

Hidden up in the mountains in central Costa Rica, and surrounded by rain forest, this hotel takes you away from mobile phone signals and wi-fi connectivity, although you can connect to the internet around the lobby / lounge area. While the amenities are relatively basic, there is a spa on the premises, and our villa had a jacuzzi. Oh, and...

We stayed for three nights recently, and had a lovely time. Our accomodation was very comfortable, with a fantastic view of the mountains and stream from our private deck. El Silencio offers a great combination of cloud forest, waterfalls, hiking, birding and adventure with superb lodging. The views from the rooms are excellent and the property is criss-crossed with streams and a diverse range of trees. Would return in a heartbeat.
