First off, I just read some of the other recent reviews and I am flabbergasted that anyone would have a complaint or negative comment to report about El Silencio Lodge. My husband and I were fortunate enough to have spent the first part of our honeymoon at ESL. We were blown away with all of it's beauty and splendor from...

We stayed for 2 nights during a recent trip, overall we were very disappointed with El Silencio which doesn't at all live up to it's hype - at least, not in our experience. When we were there, only one of the main trails was open, the other was closed due to lack of maintenance, we felt that there wasn't much...

Spent 4 days here in late Janury 2017. Overall it was a great experience. Staff is very attentive, rooms are little houses dotted in the hills surrounding the main lodge. Would not stay for more than 3-4 days as there's not tons to do. The little town of Bajos is a 15 minute walk from the Lodge and has two...

Two meals at our subsequent location confirmed our gut feeling (forgive the pun) that this lodge was let down not only by the standard of cooking but also by the limited and fairly unimaginative choice of food, an important element for many visitors once the day's walking and birding is over. Was the chef on holiday? The studio rooms were...

What a beautiful place, set in a remote area in the High Central Valley. Gorgeous room with a jacuzzi and everything you need. Breakfast is nice, mostly a la carte. Buffet of fruit and breads is a little limited. Staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. We had a couple of problems which were sorted out with...

Warmest greetings Anenome5! We are delighted to hear that you fully enjoyed our location and hospitality. The Oxcart Painting session is one of my favorites and it is wonderful to learn about one of our country's most emblematic cultural icons. Thank you so much for your enthusiastic review.

An excellent hotel, with great attention from the staff and extremely beautiful location. Since the check-in, you receive a personalized attention, with a cold drink and a hot towel. After that they'll take you to your room, all of them with a beautiful view of a small mountain, the sound of the river, private outside jacuzzi, everything surrounded by nature,...

This is way overdue, but I hosted a five-day workshop for 16 academic researchers last June, along with several family members. I think it's fair to say that everyone was blown away by this property. The rooms and grounds are wonderful, as is the spa (great massages), the hiking and other outdoor activities, and the food. And of course the...

We could not have had a better stay. We traveled through Costa Rica on our honeymoon and this was our favorite place to stay! The first day the power was out and the staff was so helpful providing lanterns. The dining area was beautiful and we even had a romantic meal by the fireplace. Our favorite parts were the food,...

This is a great place, which brings peace to the mind and allows to truly disconnect from everything. It is set in the middle of a cloud forest area, with very nice and large private bungalows, each one having its own Jacuzzi.
