One of the bedt places we've stayed in our trip around Nicaragua. The cabins are clean, big and very confirtable. We specially loved the shower "outside". Food is oustanding and very reasonably priced. Not to mention the swim in la laguna: so good not sure we can describe it properly with words!

We came to San Simian a day after arriving in Nicaragua and were very pleased. The vibe was relaxed. The service was attentive without being overbearing. My children loved splashing in the Laguna and even came to enjoy relaxing in the hammocks. We liked the comfortable bungalows and the bathrooms al fresca. The food was excellent. We looked forward to... More

We decided to stay at this eco Lodge simply on a whim from the travel book I had. We booked one night and after arriving, decided we had to stay for 2, and SO GLAD WE DID! The weather- it was slightly cooler then other places do to the lake, but was absolutely beautiful the entire time and at night... More

Spent a few nights here to relax away from the city and San Simian delived the perfect rejuvenating stay. The cabinas are dotted down the hillside overlooking the incredible Laguna de Apoyo, goving plenty of space without feeling isolated. Inside they are clean and spacious and we particularly like the outside shower/bathroom that came with each one - a nice... More

Beautiful property with only five cabanas and enough space to spread out and relax in one of the many hammocks or patios overlooking the laguna. Food was fantastic, well prepared and reasonably priced (breakfast included). Convenient bar area down by the water for an afternoon cocktail or snack, plus free use of kayaks and inner tubes to enjoy the refreshing... More

Speant 3 days in this beautiful place. It was more than we were used to spending on accomodation but was definitely worth the money. Cabanas come with a ceiling fan which is cool enough on its own to sleep comfortably, and have a pretty outside private bathroom with hot/cold shower. Situated on the lake with picturesque views. We speant our... More

Stayed here for two nights and every detail of the stay was perfect. All of the workers were friendly and helpful, the grounds were beautiful and arranged perfectly, the rooms were clean and the outdoor shower set-up in each room was awesome. My girlfriend and I had an unbelievable time swimming and kayaking in the lake and traveling to the... More

Booked two nights but stayed an extra night because we didn't want to leave. The room was clean, adorable, comfortable, with a nice breeze at night. The staff was so helpful and friendly and the owner treated us like family. Food was delicious! Can't say enough great things about this place! Highly recommended.

We went for one night after a disappointing day and night at another Laguna hotel and stayed 3 nights. Only left because we had to go home! We could have spent my entire 2 weeks here happily, Shoot, I could spend the rest of my life there. We stayed in the Papaya cabana, one of only 5 at the lodge.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
San Simian is a charming Eco Lodge in the Laguna de Apoyo Dry Forest Preserve. Nestled along the water's edge, this secluded resort has private unique lodging tucked into the slope of the crater and steps from the swimming dock, hammocks and bar where guests pass the time. Guests can stay in a unique palm-roofed cottage with open air shower, private garden or terrace, eat at our full service restaurant and relax at our outdoor bar. As San Simian is equipped with a Catamaran, several Kayaks, and other water toys, activity revolves at the lake front and in the clear warm water itself, however, bird and monkey watching in the surrounding forest are also popular, and we are also located at the entrance to a great hike path that leads up the hill to the Pueblas Blancas artisan villages and the stunning Mirador at Catarina. Please Call Ahead if you would like us to arrange a massage, pedicure, Spanish lesson, guided hike, Granada or Masaya tour. ... more   less
