The Laguna apoyo is amazingly beautiful with the lush forest that surrounds it and the blue warm water to admire and enjoy. If you have a car or not, the Laguna is a good spot to travel to masaya, Granada and the white villages (where they make pottery) around. We especially liked Catarina where the view over the Laguna and... More

This was our third visit to San Simian in about 18 months. We find it to be such a welcoming and comfortable place that we recommend it to everybody we meet who may be considering a trip to Nicaragua. Daniel continues to improve the property and his staff continue to be be very friendly and helpful. This time we stayed... More

lovely experience!! in the middle of a natural park, surrounded by trees and nature. Bungalows were amazing, mosquito net, lovely outdoor bathroom, spacious room, private terrace, fan in the room. We slept very well and the children loved it. Food was good and many natural juices to choose from. The views are lovely and Catarina very close by. We enjoyed... More

This lodge is not a five star hotel....it does not have a parking valet, a fantasy pool, a chic restaurant ,hair dressers and beauty boutiques and over priced souvenirs etc. What it does have is an excellent staff, a friendly and knowledgeable owner, a reasonably priced restaurant ,very comfortable beds and above all, a location many five hotels would love... Just spent two nights staying at San Simian and loved every minute of it. Property is gorgeous and you can just feel the attention to detail there by placement of comfortable hammocks, chairs, lanterns by the walkways and even awesome looking lamps in the huts themselves. Owner Daniel was super friendly and we had many conversations with him and he... More

What a wonderful time we had at San Simian. We stayed in the Mango hut, which is a hut, but has a cute side patio where we ate breakfast and lounged in the late afternoons. The blue tiled tube in the back was awesome and our favorite part. Thank you for the hospitality and the history!

Paradise for the right traveler, the somewhat rustic San Simian Eco Lodge is a small resort within the volcano crater that forms Lago de Apoyo. At the road is the small outdoor restaurant, and stone paths proceed down the hillside to the lakeshore, with stone cottages along the way, each with its own character and outfitting. The property is well... More

We were debating whether to stay in Granada proper or outside. In the end we chose San Simian at Laguna de Apoyo, and boy are we glad we did! San Simian is less that a half hour away from Granada (and the Pueblos Blancos, and Masaya) but feels a world away from everything. The cabins are super comfortable, the food... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
San Simian is a charming Eco Lodge in the Laguna de Apoyo Dry Forest Preserve. Nestled along the water's edge, this secluded resort has private unique lodging tucked into the slope of the crater and steps from the swimming dock, hammocks and bar where guests pass the time. Guests can stay in a unique palm-roofed cottage with open air shower, private garden or terrace, eat at our full service restaurant and relax at our outdoor bar. As San Simian is equipped with a Catamaran, several Kayaks, and other water toys, activity revolves at the lake front and in the clear warm water itself, however, bird and monkey watching in the surrounding forest are also popular, and we are also located at the entrance to a great hike path that leads up the hill to the Pueblas Blancas artisan villages and the stunning Mirador at Catarina. Please Call Ahead if you would like us to arrange a massage, pedicure, Spanish lesson, guided hike, Granada or Masaya tour. ... more   less
