We were given a smartbox weekend away and it was about to run out. Having a quick look through the hotels available, we stumbled across this casa rural in Colomera.

When we arrived the hotel is like someon'es house on the main street of the village. Check in was quick and we were shown to our room.

Room: We stayed in the Generalife room which had a double bed and a bunk bed. The room was big and had a lovely terrace with amazing views out across the valley. The bathroom was a nice size, the only mini complaint was that the shower head wasn't fixed to the wall and so you had to hold it in your hand. Nothing a bit of glue wouldn't fix.

Restaurant: As part of the box, we had a meal thrown in. The restaurant feels like you are in someone's dining room. There is a really personal feel and the service was great as was the food and wine. Breakfast was the same and we felt extremely at home and relaxed. After dinner we had some pacharans and went and sat in the...

If you want to relax this is the village to do it in. A few bars and restaurants made it alive but not much fuzz going on which suited us fine. We stayed one night and believe that's sufficient unless you want to explore the area. We were on our way from Malaga to Valencia and don't like big hotels and freeways. We had made a reservation via mail a couple of days ahead but they had forgotten when we arrived. Fortunately they still had vacancies. Took an hour walk around the village which has an old church and used to be a fortress for Granada King. Beautiful views. Very friendly and helpful landlords. Restaurant next door very rustique and nice food. Pool area a bit messy but it was off season and we are sure it's nice during summer with plants and lounges:-)
Hotel built in old style - not practical bathroom arrangement but it worked fine for the night.
