Barnsley has such a special place in my heart. Each one of my three stays, whether as a couple, with friends or family, have been unique and perfect from beginning to end. Each one of their team respect your need to feel special and go out of their way in such a genuine and natural way. Little touches make a...

We stayed at Barnsley House to celebrate my husbands Birthday and had such a lovely time. What a beautiful hotel!!!! The staff were just so welcoming, helpful and friendly and our room just lovely. We stayed in the Stable yard for the weekend. Excellent room with Turkish bath, fabulous pub supper. The staff were wonderful and we will definitely stay again. Gardens just delightful. Brilliant little touches like fresh mint leaves in the mini-bar for fresh mint tea. Can't wait to go back again to use the spa facilities.

We spent a lovely two days in Barnsley House. We stayed in one of the stables room - number 14. Absolutely stunning room, very light and interesting design with the bathroom above the rest of the room. It was a cold spring day when we were there and the wood burner made the room very cosy. Absolutely loved the spa!...

Barnsley House is a country house hotel and spa that fits the conventional English idea of what one of those is. It's beautifully manicured and very well curated. Our room was in the stable block and it was nice! Fab food and high quality service - for dinner my wife and I enjoyed double baked cheese shuffle and gin and...

We had an amazing experience at the Barnsley House. Beautiful, serene, romantic, the gardens and grounds are so well taken care of, the food was excellent and a farm to table experience, the staff was lovely and helpful. We also love our room, clean contemporary but completely fitting with the setting. There is also a movie theatre and amazing gorgeous...

This is couples only and we were lucky enough to have the apartment/suite with its own walled garden. A large stone bath at the bottom of a huge comfy bed and a view straight into the private garden. A huge breakfast delivered to the room and an hour in the Spa for a massage completed an awesome visit. Highly Recommended.

We have eaten here several times before and found the service and food excellent The menu was a little limited and with several spelling mistakes and incomplete listings surely at these prices they can afford to spell check before giving out to customers However we booked the restaurant for a friends 60th birthday meal and were disappointed with the food...

I booked Barnsley House to host my husband's 60th Birthday weekend in February 2017. It was utterly fabulous from start to finish. The experience started with a supremely efficient events organiser (Elise) who produced a spreadsheet for the event cataloguing every detail weeks in advance. When we arrived at the hotel, our guests were greeted by delightful staff who couldn't...

Had very high hopes for Barnsely House having read great reviews both on here and in CNTraveller. It is a relatively nice small boutique hotel but anyone expecting any sort of luxury 4/5 star experience (which at the price point of £500ish for a deluxe room is not unreasonable) will be disappointed. Location - Yes it is in village in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Barnsley House is your very own (fully staffed) country house set in extensive landscaped gardens near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. The Hotel has a dedicated spa, private cinema and 18 large and luxurious bedrooms to choose from. The Potager restaurant looks out to the gardens and is quite lovely. Sprigs of rosemary and linen napkins dress the tables with menus inspired from the Barnsley garden seasonal crops and local produce. If you tire of the daily home baked bread and crumbly shortbread biscuits with your afternoon tea, you can always nip across the road to our village pub. It's actually called 'The Village Pub' and delivers everything you want a village pub to deliver - open fires, papers, pints and delicious food! ... more   less
