I booked the overnight spa package, with dinner at the Potager Restaurant. This was a special treat before spending quite a long period apart. Our stay was perfect - one of very few places that we have stayed where we haven't found a single niggle. From the welcome on arrival (staff coming out with umbrellas, taking luggage and parking the... More

The Barnsley House is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever seen or stayed at. The atmosphere is very cozy and country. They have an extensive garden in the back that is lovely to visit. We stayed in Room 5. The bathroom was just as large as the bedroom. From the pics on the website, this room was... More

Once again a fantastic Sunday lunch. Food is always very special and we've never had a bad or "ok" meal after maybe 8+ visits this year alone. Very polite staff and good service. Always recommend Barnsley house for a relaxing Cotswolds visit. See you again soon!

Myself and my sister stayed for one night on their midweek spa package and were not disappointed. The staff could not do enough for you and the attention to detail was incredible. The grounds, bar, restaurant and rooms were beautiful and incredibly clean and welcoming. We hired wellies and were given maps for recommended walks. The spa was so lovely... More

The spa was very tranquil & peaceful in a very secluded spot in garden area. The evening meal was very tasty, I had the gurnard on... More

Booked the spa the evening before for myself and husband . We opted for 55 minute full body massage and a thousand tree flower detox wrap . The hotel is stunning and has plenty of parking and the spa is set just aside through the gardens . The gardens are beautiful and the spa is nestled away . The view... More

We recently took Italian friends to the Potager restaurant- knowing that Italians can be hard to please. However, our friends fell totally and utterly in love with the "signature" tomato soup. They had to have the recipe. The chef was kind enough to come out of the kitchen with the recipe written out by hand for them. That really was... More

We were treated to tea by a friend and it was superb in the restaurant. Home made delicious cakes, smoked salmon sandwiches, macaroons and a choice of different teas to drink. The staff were helpful and informed about the food. A hearty well done.

It was my dream to stay this hotel and walk around the famous beautiful garden. The weather was terrible and we actually couldn't enjoy the garden, but the suite room we stayed was beautiful and comfortable. Living room and bed room are little bit far and are connected in a corridor. Dinner was good. We could have a table by... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Barnsley House is your very own (fully staffed) country house set in extensive landscaped gardens near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. The Hotel has a dedicated spa, private cinema and 18 large and luxurious bedrooms to choose from. The Potager restaurant looks out to the gardens and is quite lovely. Sprigs of rosemary and linen napkins dress the tables with menus inspired from the Barnsley garden seasonal crops and local produce. If you tire of the daily home baked bread and crumbly shortbread biscuits with your afternoon tea, you can always nip across the road to our village pub. It's actually called 'The Village Pub' and delivers everything you want a village pub to deliver - open fires, papers, pints and delicious food! ... more   less
