I booked a 2 night weekend break as a convenient stop off on our way to Ayr racecourse. From previous reviews we were expecting a quite, relaxing stay with good food but were disappointed. On arrival we were booked in by the only member of staff, a lady serving at the bar. As orders for evening meal finished half an...

There was a mix up with the rooms and when tried to sort the problem the landlady was so rude and unhelpful. Breakfast was between 8-9am but at 8.30 started clearing everything away and when we said we hadn't finished she pointed out how busy they day was, just not enough staff on. Would never stay here again.

This was our third visit - on all three occasions for an overnight stay on mountain biking trips but I would happily stay here for a romantic weekend- if that was ever likely! We always have the same room which is huge, away from the church bells and with a great bathroom with bath and lashings of hot water and...

We stopped at the Crown & Mitre to break up an otherwise long section of the Coast to Coast walk. It was a wonderful choice as we found the Inn to be comfortable with good food both at dinner and breakfast. The innkeeper (an avid outdoorwoman) was a delight.

After a full day of unremitting rain, it was great to arrive at the Crown & Mitre. All our wet gear went to the drying room to emerge dry the next morning. Rooms were comfortable and heated - very welcome as the temperature was cool for June. Beds were comfortable and towels plentiful. The pub was full of C2Cers so...

We arrived late after a long hot days walking, only to be advised there had been a problem with the rooms as we'd booked two twin rooms. However, an alternate solution was provided, and we ended up with one twin and two singles, so the problem was dealt with in an efficient and helpful manner. We enjoyed a great dinner,...

Can Only Say, "Not Good." Not Very Welcoming, Outside Shabby & Tired Looking. Across the road from a graveyard with a church & loud bells there too. No real parking. Food ok. Seems to be run by a strange man in shorts, maybe it's his first venture into the hospitality industry. Needs To Try Harder I'd say.

This accomodation was recommended to me by family who had stayed there in the past. It did not quite live up to expectations but clean rooms and good food despite the chef being off sick. The accomodation is limited with more double beds than singles which is not ideal for walkers who are in single sex groups and this provides...

I stayed in Room 4 on the night of 27th Feb as I was attending Park Foot's Fun Day as winner of Towergate's Great British Park Off the next day. I arrived quite late after travelling from South Wales, yet the welcome was very warm and made to feel I was of no inconvenience. I slept very well in a...

We stayed for one night while doing our coast to coast walk. We arrived cold and wet after a days walking in the snow and were very pleased with the pub & accommodation. Our wet coats and boots were taken away and dried for us while we had a great meal by the open fire in the pub. Would definitely...
