TIKAYKILLA Lodge & Wines, beautifully reflects the traditional and rural land of Mendoza from which it is rooted. Springing from a marvelous display of plants and indigenous trees of various typical fruits from Mendoza region, Tikaykilla Lodge & Wines looks out on an expanse 3000m2 of open country full of picturesque vineyards introducing the visitor to the origin of the wine produced in this region. The Lodge is located in the very heart of the Wine Route, among vineyards, olive trees and fruit Groves, surrounded by Wineries and small farms in a typical Mendoza landscape, and just 500m away from the most important Wine Museum in South America. Tikay's cliche: "to make guests to feel even better than home"

Detailed Reviews
This will be my third review of TikayKilla, after being one of the first guests since their opening a decade ago. My life has changed so much since then: changing jobs, new relationship and relocating from NY to Deutschland. What hasn´t changed? The laid back "hakuna matata" vibe at TikayKilla. The quiet location, the fruit trees on the property, vineyards a bike ride away and artesanal shops make the location the ideal place to escape pretentious hustle and bustle. And then there is Francisco - as a host he is wonderfully attentive, always suggesting the best sights or keeping his distance if he knows you want to just tuck into a glass of wine and good book.
This place restores your soul. Gracias Tikay! xoxox Bis spater!

Maipú in Mendoza is one of my favourite places in Argentina and Tikaykilla is responsible for that ;-) The lodge makes you feel very comfortable and at home, and the way Francisco buid the relationship between guests and other staff is great - that is the reason we decide to come over and over again.
The rooms are comfortable and breakfast is generous. And all tips regarding the area are easily provided by Francisco and his staff. Will be back again!

What a wonderful property. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave everything is taken care of and thought of. Free bikes for use, homecooked breakfast, and beautiful gardens. And all just minutes from the wineries. What else do you need? Look no further and stay here.

I stayed here over Christmas with my friend in 2013 and I'm ashamed it has taken me so long to review this amazing lodge.
The rooms are spotlessly clean and well appointed and the bed was the best I slept on in Argentina. The location is great with one of Maipu's many vineyards just a couple of hundred meters away and an ATM and shops at the end of the road.
The real highlight of the lodge though is the owner Francisco. You could not wish for a better host and he looked after us fantastically during our stay helping us with bike hire, car hire, restaurant bookings and suggesting the best vineyards to visit during our all too brief stay. The highlight for us though was the impromptu trip to the local butchers and BBQ to help us in our quest to find a "really big steak".
If you are heading to Maipu then I cannot recommend this lodge highly enough, do yourselves a favour and book it.

We stayed here for 4 nights and we were so happy!
Location: outside of Mendoza but in Maipu, so if you want to do wine tasting, this is the place to be. Totally worth the cab rides into the city when we wanted to head there.
Host: Francisco (and his cute pup Suki) was amazing! He was more than helpful arranging taxis, tours, and giving his opinion on what is not to be missed. We had such a relaxed end to our vacation because we knew we could trust his recommendations.
Bed & Breakfast: the only place that we got a substantial breakfast that we didn't have to eat an hour later. Eggs cooked any way you like them, banana bread, toast & jams, fresh orange juice, coffee and tea. You can even have dinner there (there are a few good restaurants within walking distance too) if you are tired from doing wine tours all day!
Rooms were clean and looked out on the great back yard. The entire place is new and nice, well taken care of. Even little things were great (like water pressure in the shower).
No complaints at all. We will definitely be staying here and recommending this to anyone coming to Mendoza.

We stayed at TikayKilla for 3 nights... Should have stayed longer! The location is perfect if you want to visite the vineyards. It's quiet, easy going and beautiful. Francisco goes out of his way to make sure you have the best of everything. Bikes, tips, trips, whatever! We immidiately felt at home. O, and he is a good cook! If you don't feel like eating out, he might cook you a very tasty pasta and salade :-) There are only 4 rooms, so don't wait to long making your reservation. We'll definately come back. Thank you Francisco (and you beautiful wife and son) for the best experience in Argentina.

Tikaykilla is a special place and all about good people. I and my wife went there on this January and felt that we are visiting a beloved cousin, someone from the family. We were received very warmly, with kindness and care. Francisco is who did it all. He made simply great!!! Everything went smoothly great! Since all the email contact untill our departure, we felt not in a simple trip but in a whole travel experience.
If you are the type of traveler that likes 200 bedrooms hotel, no human contact, check-in at a machine and express check-out of course this is not your place. If you appreciate an intimate atmosphere, wines, and all the beauty of this winery region, this is the right place for you. And to go to Mendoza city center is a short 10 minutes cab ride. If you have a car, it's even easier! Very very easy to enjoy all the sides of this beautiful region. Both city centre and restaurants/shops and the quietness and beauty of the wine region.
Tikaykilla é um excelente lugar para brasileiros também já que eles estão acostumados a receber pessoas do nosso país. Recomendadíssimo. Obrigado Tikaykilla pelos 4 dias espetaculares!!!! Gracias Francisco!

Stayed with Francisco for three nights and he was the perfect host, we were there to visit the vineyards and he gave us some excellent recommendations and introduced us to a driver who was his friend and they were able to chauffeur us about for the duration of our visit. Accommodation is very quaint and was ideal for our needs.

After reading all the rave reviews we booked this hotel for three nights and ended up switching hotels after one. Really I think the problem was with our expectations -- when someplace gets this many rave reviews, we were expecting something a little, well, nicer. Don't get me wrong -- this place is very clean and well run. It's just very basic -- the rooms are quite small, there is not much else on the property. If you plan to be active all day, and just need a place to sleep and a good breakfast to start the day, this may be an excellent choice for you. We were just hoping to have a room where we would want to relax and hang out a bit after two weeks of intensive traveling around Argentina. This was not the place. Francisco handled our situation beautifully, and didn't make us feel uncomfortable for the switch. So, for clean, friendly, accommodating -- this is a good place. For a bit of luxury, look elsewhere.

Dear Kate. and J., Thanks for the review, hope this time at least it helps the few other people (like yourselves) to understand FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL that “excellent service” doesn’t mean LUXURIOUS 5 STARS ACCOMMODATION at all… We appreciate and totally agree in what you say regarding that you made a mistake selecting our lovely lodge with incorrect parameters and wrong expectations. ALL TripAdvisor reviews mention the simplicity of Tikaykilla and ALL the pictures published reinforce it. Don’t really know what you were looking at. Furthermore, on our website you’ll find the size of the rooms in SQM / SQ FEET and all the amenities you can find here. From my point of view, the type of review to write, when someone makes a mistake like you did, is leaving NO review at all. It doesn’t add any help to us, as we know the type of place we are running and all the information about it isn´t hidden at all. Moreover, we lost count of all guests arriving to the lodge and saying: “Whow! This looks even nicer than what it seems to be on the website”. However we know it lowers our overall reputation unnecessarily, hope it also helps to avoid future awkward situations like this one to EVERYONE. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Mendoza at Cavas WL (at least 7 times more expensive than us). Best regards, Julian (Francisco´s business partner)
