We stayed for one night in mid-May. The views are stunning, and Kinloch is deeply peaceful - I've taken away the deep peace of meditating at the lake edge as the skies moved through pinkness into night; the crunch of feet on stones resonating across the still lake. A very special place with a resonant mountain energy. Look out for...

I originally booked to stay here just 1 night with my partner and my Mum while travelling in NZ but the pictures looked so fabulous we changed our booking to 2 nights - BIG MISTAKE! We arrived after a long journey and a horse trek ready to relax. Firstly this place is not in Glenorchy, its actually the middle of...

This is a very long and thorough review designed to detract from our family business and I can see having met these guests and seen their state of mind, that this was the view to them. Kinloch Lodge is situated in Kinloch, Glenorchy and is listed as such on Booking.com and all other sites. We are 26 km from the...

Nestled away from modern life is this fabulous place to stay. I will always choose Kinloch Lodge as it has everything you need in one place. After a frantic day and off loading horses in the dark in Glenorchy we drove round to Kinloch to be greeted by John in his apron and a meal ready for us. Three courses...

John & Toni have created a welcoming, comfortable lodge for all travelers venturing this far. The surprisingly wide array of rooms is exceeded only by the helpful personnel and truly excellent kitchen creations. Do not venture out through the dark of night for dinner, stay right here and enjoy a wonderful 3 course meal for a fair price! Double room...

We didn't stay at the lodge, but at the DOC campsite across the street. We went there to escape what we later learned were Sand Flies, which were swarming us and biting repeatedly. The nice man working the bar/taking food orders dropped off the insect repellant along with our drinks, and explained the flies are a part of life here....

Excellent stay and great service! Only suggestion is to be prepared as we didn't have a vehicle and the closest town was 40 mins away for groceries. You can buy a few items at the lodge or have dinner there if you get stuck in a similar situation as us. Best advice would be to grab groceries in Queenstown (cheapest...

Hi Shane, thanks for your review. The drive to Glenorchy is 26 km and take 20 minutes or Queenstown is an hour. We make all these recommendations on our website. Kinloch is a great base for walking. We have an excellent restaurant and self-catering facilities and small shop that offers a small selection of reasonably priced goods. We hope we...

We stayed in a Wilderness cabin at Kinloch Lodge for three nights. The bedroom was comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped for self-catering. Shared bathrooms were ok but not very well ventilated. It's an excellent location for trampers and day-walkers to enjoy the many tracks in the area. We had a tasty meal one evening at the restaurant. Wifi...

We left the crowds behind in Queenstown and had a wonderful 2 nights with the lovely Toni and John to greet us. We stayed in the luxurious Ecoscapes cabins which are new and spotlessly clean. If you like gadgets there is lots of technology, if not, Toni will guide you! The view from the bed is stunning, one whole wall...

I shared a room with 3 other people. The rooms were clean. The kitchen well equipped, but despite the best efforts of the staff, a little untidy. The dining area with lounge useful because of the sandflies. The restaurant/bar was quirky and relaxing. The food was good and the staff helpful. I used their track pickup/drop off which was good,...

Hi Lizzie Thanks for your review. Glad you enjoyed our quirky restaurant. Apologies that the the kitchen was a little untidy. The kitchen is only as tidy as the last person that used it after our cleaning times - first thing in the morning, after check out and early evening. Transfers are from $15 pp down to the Greenstone and...

Great place to rest and relax after trekking in the area. Clean, Peaceful and quiet. Very friendly and helpful staff (those I can remember are John, Toni, Jenni, Ziggy and Tom ). I missed the pre-booked boat service to the lodge and there were no more boat service. Luckily Angel, who works at the trading post (an affiliate entity of...
