The hotel is a very good starting point for hikes in the north of the island. The way to the hotel is well signposted, but can also be easily found with Google Maps. Parking spaces are available in front of the hotel. You will be greeted warmly and enjoy the good service and various amenities. The rooms are tastefully furnished and have a balcony. The breakfast is tasty and also includes regional products.
A lovely family run hotel in a peaceful part in the hills of Sao Vincente. There is a church with a bell that rings every half hour, but finishes at 9 in the evening and starts at 8 in the morning. The rooms are modern and clean with fast wifi. A bathrobe and separate towel is provided for the indoor pool. A continental breakfast with fresh juices and produce from the garden. Sao Vincente town is an 8min drive away and there's a really nice restaurant on the other side of the valley.
Even if we stayed just for one night we can say that in this place everything is perfect from the service over the accomodation to the food at the breakfast. Hereyou can find everything you need an uch more, balcany, sun-terrasse, gard, pool, sauna, living room with cheminy and so on
Great atmosphere! There is an indoor swimming pool, some sunbeams indoor and outdoor, a lovely garden where you can taste some strawberries, and very nice rooms. There are some towels and bathrobes for you to wear.
This small hotel has own vegetable garden and serves their own lettuce, tomatos, and other vegetables and fruits for their clients. On arrival, we have found complimentary strawberries in our room; there was also a small herbal tea. The room was spacious and comfortable; we could also make tea/caffee all the time in the eating room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend Solar da Bica.
Wonderful located hotel in the north of Madeira. Very likable staff, fine rooms with a marvelous view over the valley of São Vicente. We enjoyed all komfort, including the indoor pool and the phantastic garden with its terraces. A special "wow" for the excellent breakfast. The only downside was that our room was above the kitchen and a bit too noisy. However, this does not justify a point deduction for us. All in all, a clear recommendation for everyone who appreciates a quiet, wonderfully friendly retreat.
A beautiful, little hotel in a very tranquil environment. Though the room was simple the bed was comfortable and the view spectacular. We only stayed one night but I would have happily swapped our stay at a pool villa at Calheta for more nights here. The honesty bar was helpful and we picked up takeaway pizza at a local joint and ate on the terrace with wine from the hotel and watched the sunset.
We stayed here for one night during a hiking trip. The reception staff was very friendly when we arrived. We had a double room which was on the top floor (room 11). The view faced north onto the mountain, it would have been better – and sunnier - on the other side. The room was a bit small but comfortable, and the bathroom and shower were nice. Coffee is provided for free downstairs at any time. There is no restaurant which is a bit unpractical if you don't have a car (we didn't as we were on a hiking trip). The hotel is far away from everything – about 4 km to the cost and places to eat. It is up on a hill (as are a lot of places in Madeira) and it really isn't practical to walk to and from a restaurant. They said we could order take-away and sent us a link to a restaurant and offered to help us order. But when they phoned up, they were told the delivery man was sick so no deliveries that day … We hadn't eaten all day and needed dinner and the hotel offered the only thing available – some sandwiches and a salad (their own home-grown produce). So we ordered that. When we were eating the sandwiches a bit slug crawled out of one of them … we brought it back down and they apologised but laughed and said "that's nature"! Sure, it is … and we got a new sandwich which we ate because we were hungry … We did think they should have given it to us for free because of the slug but they didn't. Not a huge problem, but still … We were tempted to use the pool but didn't as there were other people there and it's not that big. The Solar da Bica is quite a nice place but without anything (restaurants or anything else) nearby it's not very practical if you don't have a car. If it had a restaurant it would have been a big plus.…
We loved staying at this place, nestled in the mountains with beautiful views from our balcony. Breakfast was fantastic, especially the eggs and fresh fruit and vegetables. We also really appreciated having coffee and water available all of the time. Solar da Bica was well situated for our hikes and a welcome refuge when we got back. The beds were comfy and the place was very quiet - until the rooster woke up early in the morning, but it was a wonderful way to start the day. We hope to return on our next trip to Madiera!
I spent three nights at Solar da Bica and can just highly recommend this place. It's a small, family-run B&B with 13 rooms in total. Location is a bit remote uphill in the Lameiros Village, a 5 min drive with your car (required!) to Sao Vicente towntown. It's super quiet in a residential area. Nice common area with a fire-wood heated breakfast/ reading room. There is also an indoor pool available to guests and sauna (reservervation required due to Covid). Rooms are nice and large and come with all you need - there is a great view across the valley and there is also a small balcony. Super clean; comfortable bed and recently renovated bathroom with walk-in shower. The best is the breakfast (try the Tomatoe jam! and freshly prepared egg dished). Most is home-made and of great taste! In total just a super nice and relaxed place if you don't need a big hotel with related service offerings. Happy to stay there again when visiting Madeira again!…
