Such an amazingly friendly group of people that looked after us like we were a part of their family. Comfortable, clean and cosy room for our group of three, with outstanding food (the best we have had in Japan!). Beautiful onsen over looking the river with lots of room for everyone. We loved our stay and wished we were there...

The minshuku is delightful. We arrived thoroughly soaked to be greeted by the host who shepherded us instantly to the onsen providing us with towels and crisp Japanese robes. The meals were as described before, Japanese with a unique twist, very tasty. A bottle of wine was reasonably priced too. Killer view from the dining room over the river, particularly...

I was very pleased with the level of service. The hosts were very helpful with helping with the planning of my next days walking - letting me know where the bus stop was and when the first bus was etc. The food was excellent and varied, with little touches like locally produced plum wine which impressed me. The onsen was...

This hotel is small and quite basic but spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and the onsen is lovely. There's a washing machine and dryer! (Wish I'd known this before starting my walk and I would have carried less clean socks, t-shirts and undies) but the highlight is dinner. They made a huge effort to make us...

The owners of this minshuku opened today especially for us - there were a total of 6 guests, we weren't part of the same group. The owners were so friendly, the place was warm and clean, wifi connected in my room, and the place was spacious. Loved the look out from the dining room to the flowing river. Really enjoyed...

We are hikers but like to be in clean hotel. So this hotel with 8 rooms is very clean and meet more than our needs. There are common toilets and washing area. Communal hot bath are some steps away from the main building. There is a paid washing machine ¥200 per wash and ¥100 for 30 mins drying. The rooms...

After a pleasant day's walk from Takijiri along the Nakahechi track on the Kumano Kodo we arrived at this comfortable retreat. It has a peaceful riverside location facing beautiful trees in autumn colours and a relaxing onsen. The hosts were exceptional in their attention and care for weary walkers. The dinner was undoubtedly the best Japanese meal we had; the...

I was expecting a family home, and no doubt it is, but is more like a cross between a family home and a hotel. There are several japanese bedrooms, a dining room, a tea room and separate onsen only a few steps away from the main building. I was with a tour otherwise it might be a bit difficult to...
