Don't expect a ryokan nor a hotel, it's a house stay with 2 bedrooms situated on the country side (20min walk from the JR Yufuin station) with a few chickens and a rooster walking free around the house. Stayed on the 1st floor bedroom (not finished in construction), no private toilet, no private wash basin (only ice cold water) and...

We spent 4 nights at Toki no Kakera, and we enjoyed every minute of it. Like previous reviewers have said, Kaz, the owner, has put a lot of hard work and love into this place. After staying at a high priced Ryokan for 1 night, we had to scale down so i booked a room for 4 people at "Secret Base - Toki No Kakera" for 1 night. This place was 3 times cheaper, but with no dinner. a great price and the location is 5mins drive (west) from the train station. Suggest you wake...
