Yufuin is one of the most popular hot spring area in Kyushu, and thus accommodation is normally expensive. It is also very difficult for a solo traveler to stay in a Japanese style ryokan unless you travel during off peak season. This small inn, however, welcomes solo travelers as well as families. The property has only seven rooms including one... More

We talk about Fumotoya even after we are back home, in the nicest way. Fumotoya was the first accommodation for the family's first trip to Japan, and it definitely set a very high benchmark. We love the people over at Fumotoya. They are very friendly, and very welcoming. We had some difficulty locating the place upon arrival (because roads in... More

The location, price, quality of food, 3 private baths are all top notch. What truly captured our hearts was the detailed service offered by the lady boss and her hubby. She saw our bag of fruits in the room and the next day gave us 4 large perfect Japanese pairs for free. She noticed that one of us had stacked... More

Stayed for 1 night, included evening meal and breakfast (western food and quite good). Nice lady owner speaks a little English, communication wasn't a problem. The rooms have TV, fridge, kettle and private toilet facilities. You're expected to use one of the 3 family onsens for bathing. All three onsens have both an indoor and outdoor pool. There's also free... More

A family-run inn that served the most delicious food during our stay in Kyushu. Definitely go for the full course meal without a doubt. We were pleasantly surprised by both the quality and quantity of food. The beef was extremely tender and every dish was nicely decorated and presented. We even got a few complementary home-made fruit wine with the... More
