We stayed for one night in two rooms with 3 beds each and we also requested 3 additional mattresses which were easily provided by the staff. There was ample space for all of us (10pax) to eat the food we br
My sister and I stayed here for a couple of nights this was after Typhoon Tisoy. So they didn't have wifi or cable TV as advertised (which was all good). Power supply was still not stable. The resort was nice, it had the view of the sea (which was not suitable for swimming) but they had a pool to compensate which was crowded in the early morning and in the late afternoon. Our room was spacious enough and clean. It had the garden view, overlooking the pool and the bar. The place was peaceful and quiet. The toilet and bath was neat enough, water pressure was okay. The AC was working fine but a bit noisy. The food and drinks at the restaurant was expensive. Breakfast menu ranged from 90-250 Php (90 for plain pancakes) and was still without any coffee/juice/tea. If you want to have coffee/juice/tea you have to pay around 40-60 Php. If you want to save on food, you may opt to buy or eat outside the resort (i.e., ride a trike for 20 Php one way fare to the town proper). The staff were helpful and friendly. But have to practice being more attentive to resort guests needs. They were dogs which bothered some guests during meal time. Management should keep them away for the safety guests. Lastly, they had a nice view of the sunset.…
The first impression was very nice, the room decent and clean and the view is beautiful. The restaurant was good but more expensive than local restaurant and unfortunately there is not many options for dining out in Donsol. We tried going to other resorts to try their restaurants but nothing was open. Please be careful when renting a bike, especially near the diving centre across the road from the tourist centre. The guy asked us to pay 3000php for 5 days. You can rent a bike for 300php if you drive into town, there are advertising about it everywhere. We were also told there is only one ATM in town, inside the rural bank but we discovered a 24h ATM at the Local Government Unit. Staying in Donsol was peaceful and quiet and is a good break away from the city, but I wouldn’t recommend staying more than three nights if you get bored easily. There isn’t much to do in Donsol except snorkelling and maybe if you are lucky see a whale shark. P.s. The dogs were really nice.…
Everything about this place is beyond impressive. No wonder it’s filled with both local and foreign tourists. Both of us was here less than a week ago and we had such an enjoyable and wonderful time that we almost regretted booking for only a night. It ain’t a 5-star resort yet the services were fantastic- from the friendly and warm staff, to the super neat and laid-back surroundings, beautiful sunset, lovely garden, even the dogs were friendly! My partner and I separately posted pictures in social media and each of us has been getting inquiries and we’ve been insistingly recommending it to friends since then! One piece of advice though, a night is not enough!
A place to unwind, relax and recharge. Very hospitable staff and locals. Whale shark watching is a must (though we were'nt able to dive since my eldest daughter is a bit afraid of friendly giants) and so as firefly watching at ugod river! A very majestic place where you can see thousands of fireflies and stars in the sky!!!
This is one of the fancier places I have been since travelling. Mainly because they offer a dorm options (3 beds in a big room, with big beds) at a resort with swimming pool. Some things are a bit rundown, mainly the bathroom, but I dont mind for the price of not even 10 euro (500 pesos). The food at the restaurant is good and they have nice happy hour deals.
For clarity, there are two distinctly separate resorts here with the same ownership, Vitton & Woodland. We stayed at Vitton and were delighted. It is located right on the waterfront. We booked a Double Deluxe room and it was a good choice as it had a verandah with comfortable seating and a drying rack. The room was large with 2 queen size, comfortable beds. Despite being in a stunning location, the resort is quite elderly and 'tired', so you can expect maintenance issues (a safety deposit box that didn't work, showers needing replacement). Also, the resort is located firmly in the 3rd world and in the tropics, so people are poor and you can expect insects and bugs around the place. Having read the TA reviews in advance, we chose to bring ant treatment with us - problem solved. Internet is best in the restaurant or at the bar, but it is intermittent, especially when there are power cuts. The pool was largely in good shape, but with quite a lot of rain, it got a little out of balance over our stay. It's not a big deal if the pool is a little cloudy, however. The staff are all wonderful. Friendly and keen to help. Annie at reception was particularly helpful, as was Diana, and Frank at the bar - thanks guys. We met people who were on their 5th stay at Vitton and they were likewise impressed with a tired resort that tries hard and is appropriately priced. The restaurant produced a great breakfast, but the lunch and dinner menu has very little for the health-conscious Westerner. Burgers had been removed from the menu and we were forced offsite to find something different to the Filipino fare which we found limiting. We suggest a bigger and more balanced menu with a greater choice of Western options for those of us who are over belly pork and smashed chicken! The spa is excellent. You could hardly imagine a more relaxing setting in which to have a massage. The therapists' skills were rather mixed, but overall it was a first class experience. It's a short and pleasant walk to the whale shark information centre. Please pass on our thanks to all the staff who made our stay so pleasant. Finally, be aware that the standard fare from or to Legazpi airport is 1,700 PHP each way. Annie will arrange if contacted in advance.…
The Viitton Resorts is in a very good location in Donssol Sorsogon, short walk to Tourist Centre for whale shark adventure. Nice restaurants, small bars and the warm swimming pool. The rooms are simple but clean. The reason for 5 stars is the staff. We had interactions with staffs from reception, dining, bar, spa and room housekeeping. Each of them was delightful, very accommodating, humble and most especially very honest as I left my ring at the safety box and they managed to send it to my place without any charges. A big thanks to Ms Annie, Marlon, Christine, Maila, Frank and to all other staff at of Vitton Resorts and Spa. Mabuhay kayo! One day, we’re come back there to see you all again and to see more butanding in your place.
It’s a big mystery how this hotel has such a high score. The pictures are not at all representative of the so called resort. When we first saw the room we were unhappy but we said nothing. Then we saw the towels I went and asked for new ones. They were full of red spots (picture). They did not apologize and made me wait for 10 minutes in the reception instead of bringing new ones to the room. The new towels were still dirty; this time they had smaller green spots. The mirror above the sink looks like it has not been cleaned, ever (picture). The sink was gross and full of ants (picture). There was a lightbulb right in front of the door, meaning it was always super light at night. The bed was dirty; full of dust and an old mattress (picture). When we saw a huge cockroach (picture) on the curtains I went back to the reception. Again, no apologies, nothing. They then asked if I wanted a different room, to which I responded yes if it would be a cleaner room. They sent a man with me to see the next door room who conveniently did not speak English (where as the entire hotel spoke English). The new room was exactly the same; minus the cockroach I thought. The day we left my boyfriend told me he had found a dead cockroach in the bathroom which he threw away without telling me. Furthermore, the rooms are just generally dirty with lots of mold in the bathroom. When the toilet got clogged and we asked them to unclog it they asked to have our key which is odd. When we came back from our trip to see whale sharks (which i highly recommend) three hours later and asked for our key, they did not tell us they still had not unclogged the toilet. After going back once again, they sent a man without a key. Luckily we saw him from the restaurant so we had to run to him to give him the key when he came back after 1 minute. Moving on to the pool area. We specifically booked a “resort” with a pool but did not swim in it once because it was dirty. It was impossible to see the floor due to the murky water. There were wooden chairs of which 2 had missing pieces. None of them had pillows. The sea can only be reached by a pool-like long ladder. In front of this ladder lie many broken bricks. To top this all the toilet looks like a slum, with trash, toilet paper (which you have to bring yourself) and wipes everywhere on the floor (picture). They ask you to shower before entering their dirty pool, which is funny because their shower probably makes you dirtier. A lot of trash / plastic can be found in the shower. The food at the restaurant was bad to say the least. Out of everything the tuna sandwich and the so called buffalo wings were the worst. The first night we ordered food we asked for the wings as an appetizer. I specifically asked them twice to make sure the wings would be brought to us before the main course to which she responded this was okay. Of course my pasta pesto (which is not recommended) came without the appetizer beforehand. I then said that she could cancel the appetizer. She refused to do so ‘because the wings were ready’. I kindly responded that we specifically asked for them as an appetizer before our meal cause we were hungry. She kept on saying that we could not cancel them and made it our problem, while they made a mistake. She also said so in a rude manner and gave arrogant looks to us for the rest of our stay. The only thing we ate which was fine was the omelette and the cereals. Finally, when we checked out, all they said was “you pay” and “bye”. Do yourself a favor and don’t go to this place. It’s disgusting, the staff is rude, incapable and will not make any effort for you. We have been traveling in Thailand and the Philippines for 1,5 months and even hostels were cleaner. Only great thing about this place is it’s location - luckily that is something they cannot ruin. …
We stayed here for 5 days in April 2019. The staff were excellent, they even had our room ready early after an early morning flight and car trip from Legazpi. The facilities are great, pool, bar, beauty spa and restaurant. Clean enough but don’t expect a five star resort and the mattress is basic foam. Make sure you see the whale sharks, fire flies and island hopping tour. See Willsey at Fundiveasia for tours and visitor information centre for whale shark encounters
