Camping at Papkuilsfontein We camped at the camping site for 2 nights over December. The campsite is isolated and away from all other accommodation of farm activities. The directions to the site were not clear and the road a bit sandy and more suited for 4x4 vehicles and not normal sedans. The view is beautiful from there. The campsite is...

One of the best guest farms I've stayed in! Warm welcome, delicious dinner and breakfast ..oodles of charm and very interesting history of the old farmhouse and family (Van Wiyk) who have lived there for generations.A perfect stay-over for seeing the flowers.

I've stayed on many farms in South Africa and I can easily say this is one of the very best. What a memorable place and experience! The proprietress clearly has great taste and left no detail unattended. We arrived late at night to our cosy room with warm bathrobes set out, big feather beds awaiting and an outdoor shower to...

This is a great spot for walks, runs and cycles. The cottage that we stayed in had electricity but no microwave and stove so we had to cook our pre-made lasagne on the indoor fire which worked remarkably well. Basic supplies of tea and coffee and a firefighting kit were supplied as well as a small amount of milk. Be...

Mariette and her team made us very welcome in De Lande. It is peaceful and comfortable. Dinners are delicious and a real occasion. Dinners are served around a large table with interesting conversation with fellow guests. Walks on the farm are beautiful and I especially recommend the one to the gorge. There are interesting rock formations and lots of wild...

This is truly a special place. We stayed at Matjiesfontein and loved it. The cottage is airy and gets lovely light. The beds are very comfy and the bathtub is a welcome luxury after a lovely hike or long drive. The food prepared by Amanda was delicious and the hosts Mariette and Willem are gracious and welcoming. Can highly recommend...

Papkuilsfontein's USPs should, ideally, be less unique. Absolute sensitivity towards the restoration of old structures, a Romantic sense of what to keep in ruin or just leave to age in picturesque desuetude, the balance of pasture and wild land, cooking of a high standard but nonetheless very traditional, more than the usual collection of reading matter on the area (the...

Stayed in Rondekraal on this my second visit to the farm. What a magic place. A stone and thatch building that is one long room with a double bed. Very comfortable and a great fireplace to settle down in front of after the braai is done. Lots of hikes and drives to keep one busy during the day, or just...

This is just one of the the very best places to spend at least 3 nights! We started our flowers from Springbok to Cape Town, spending nights along the way. Papkuilsfontein topped them all. We booked Gert Boom Cottage and were thrilled with our accommodation. We asked for dinner, which was delivered to our cottage by Petro, who set our...

Our group has just visited Papkuilsfontein - Comfort food - so very delicious and served with love summarizes what you feel when you visit Alrie, and her family. Willem does an awesome tour of his flower fields in his open game type vehicle. It is a place we return to year in and year out in flower season!
