David and Helen were so very welcoming. They genuinely wanted us to get the most out of our brief stay. Stoke Gabriel is a pretty little village on the Dart estuary. There is a great local pub with good food a few minutes walk away and plenty of restaurants in and around Totnes. The B & B itself has only...

We spent two nights here. Everything was excellent. The property is beautiful with a lovely sized room, big bathroom and balcony with stunning views over the village & the river Dart. There was a guests sitting room too. David & Helen were very welcoming and friendly and provide a fantastic breakfast with a wide choice of options. We would thoroughly...

Badgers Retreat is a wonderful place in every way. We were met at the door by David who made us very welcome and showed us to our room, with balcony and stunning view of the Dart river and the Devon hills. The decor throughout is excellent and all facilities and fittings are top of the range. Helen gave us our...

Badger's Retreat has now become an automatic choice when visiting the South Hams. Located in a quiet village but with easy access to local towns, beauty spots and beaches it provides the ideal base for holidays in South Devon. I have sung the praises of BR before on TA but on this visit we were accompanied by our son, his...

Needing to stay in South Devon to finalise a house move and to take a little short break we picked Stoke Gabriel Lodgings. From the start when I emailed regarding availability to when we left, we felt well looked after. The view from our room which had a balcony was spectacular. The room was spacious and very clean, and the...

We stayed for 2 nights, the whole stay was fantastic. Starting with the hosts David and Helen, what lovely people and so helpful, you leave feeling as if you've made new friends (or that you've known them for ages). We stayed in the superking room, and it really is top class, large and airy, bedding and furnishings gorgeous, bedroom and...

We have recently spent another 3 days in this fabulous B&B. Everything positive has already been said about 'Badgers Retreat' and they are all spot on. The location is beautiful with fantastic views towards the village centre and the River Dart. The rooms are truly 5* and matched by the great breakfast choice that includes fresh fruit and every conceivable...

This was our first visit to Devon for many years. We wanted somewhere near to Totnes and discovered Stoke Gabriel Lodgings by googling, and reviewing Wolsey and Trip Advisor feedback. Despite the relatively short notice we were able to be accommodated, and thank goodness we were. The whole experience was exemplary, from the very warm welcome we received from David...

Situated high up a steep gradient, this place offers standards of accommodation and service to match the best we have experienced in both Australia and New Zealand. It goes without saying that the views overlooking Stoke Gabriel and the South Hams beyond are simply breathtaking, and all for a reasonable price per person. David Littlefair the owner, and his wife,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Stunning modern architecture, bright open living spaces and incredible views are the hallmarks of Stoke Gabriel Lodgings, a Wolsey Lodge luxury bed and breakfast (B&B) that is quite distinctly different. Set high above the River Dart just outside the quintessentially English village of Stoke Gabriel, near Totnes in Devon, the house was completed in 2010 and has been designed to take full advantage of its elevated location deep in the Devon countryside. On arrival in Stoke Gabriel you will be warmly greeted by your hosts David and Helen and offered a classic Devon cream tea and a chance to take in your rather special surroundings. The luxury B&B guest accommodation features rooms that are spacious and lavishly furnished with comfortable seating areas, televisions and delicious offerings on tea trays. The en-suite bathrooms are equally well thought out and designed complete with wet shower areas and heated towel rails for added comfort. Patio doors open to your own private balcony overlooking the garden and Devon countryside – a perfectly quiet retreat to enjoy the peaceful Stoke Gabriel location. Oak floors and furniture of the guest living and dining rooms reflect the contemporary light and airy ambiance whilst outside the newly planted garden landscape is best enjoyed from the large terrace or conservatory. Breakfast offers an array of cooked delights whilst dinner can be taken at one of the many excellent local pubs and restaurants. Your Hosts: As hoteliers for over 30 years, David and Helen Littlefair know exactly what their B&B guests expect and, together with their three grown-up daughters have created a lovely family home to share. Holidaying in Stoke Gabriel for many years before building a home here, their intimate knowledge of the best places to visit are eagerly shared with guests staying at their rather special, luxury accommodation. The Location: Stoke Gabriel Lodgings is located in Stoke Gabriel, near Totnes in Devon. National Trust and English Heritage properties as well as the South Devon Coastal Path, beaches galore and the diversely interesting towns of Brixham, Dartmouth, Totnes, Paignton and Torquay are all within reach. Above all, why not make this luxury bed and breakfast accommodation your base for exploring the wild open splendour of Dartmoor, perfect for walking and cycling and so much more.
