We've stayed here twice and each time it's been a wonderful experience. The owner - Gregorio - and his staff made the week a joy. If you're traveling in Tuscany, I can't think of a better home base for exploring the Tuscan countryside. Don't miss the hot springs just 15 minutes north of Il Civettaio, Gregorio will give you directions.

First time ever that I have came to the same place twice on holiday. I love this place. Outstanding host/ owner, great wine and complete relaxation. Book this place, switch off and enjoy the view which is just stunning. Great restaurants nearby, and the wine is one hill over from Brunello di Montalcino.....so great quality at a fraction of the...

This place is beautiful. We arrived to be met by Sara who showed us to our apartment. We went there with friends at the end of September and stayed for 6 days. We like to discover new things and experiences. This place was perfect for that! We tried harvesting wine for 1 day - thats worth it 100%! You can truly enjoy a glass of wine at sunset together with the owner - Gregorio, after hard day's...

I would not want anyone else to have an experience like the one we had at Il Civettaio. Beware! The farmhouse is situated overlooking a motorway. We booked a week at here in Aug 2012 in an apartment called Volpe. The Civettaio website made the place sound attractive, peaceful and remote: “Feast your eyes with the sight of rolling hills...

We had ten days holiday planned in Italy, starting with three busy days in Florence, then we drove down to Il Civettaio where the pace of life slowed considerably. Gregorio, the owner welcomed us on arrival, and we had one of the top floor self-catering apartments which had stunning views. We liked the thoughtfully restored property, which provided good quality,...

Imagine: blue sky, green vineyards, the scent of lavender, of grass, of crushed grapes, the warmth of the sun, the true flavors of the ancient countryside, time flowing by slowly. Relax in an ancient, sun-kissed estate in Maremma, which produces award-winning organic wines and extra-virgin olive oils. Experience the flavors of Maremma. This is the essence of Il Civettaio.
