We previously visited the Waterman's Arms when we last stayed in Devon in 2014 following a local recommendation. The idyllic setting makes for perfect summer's day alfresco eating & drinking. Dog friendly too. Returned here again this evening (14/05/17) for a meal (inside this time). We had two ribeye steaks from the specials board which were cooked to perfection. All...

Had a mid week break at the Waterman Arms, We were made very welcome on arrival. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub has a log fire and serves decent beer. Our room was very nice, warm and clean with a nice en-suite bathroom. The Waterman is pet friendly and our dog was allowed in all areas. however the...

This is somewhere I used to visit many years ago when I lived in Devon and was very much looking forward to a return visit. We were very disappointed with the menu as it was very, very limited and unless we had spotted the specials board hidden away behind the bar, we would have found it very difficult to choose...

We arrived: two adults, three children (8 - 13 years old) and two springer spaniels. We had all been for a walk and had also been in the river ford for quite a while. As a result we were wet and cold. The bar maid looked at us and smiled when I apologised. She told us not to worry so...

I wasn't in the best of moods when I arrived, but when I walked through the door I got a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar and indeed from a happy group dining by the fire. The menu looked great and with a big glass of wine in my hand and the fire roaring away the world felt...

This ranks as one of two of our best, relaxing, beautiful places that we will continue to visit for as long as we are able. Its like coming home. In autumn the smell of the log fires and the shades of the various falling leaves into the river together with a pint of Palmers 200,is second to none. Sit by...

We had dinner with 2 of our kids at The Waterman Arms. The place was quiet but it is in a lovely setting and the Owners are very friendly and attentive. There is a varied and interesting menu, including a good kids menu. The food was very good, especially the beef stroganoff "special". Good size portions and very tasty. Prices...

Our Satnav had us going down single track roads to find this place but it was well worth it. The pub is situated next to a small river and has an interesting history . The rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. The star however was the restaurant and its menu, my wife had a crab and lobster burger and...
