Booked a table for Mothers day, should have realised when it was so poorly populated on a day when almost every pub and restaurant is fully booked something might be wrong. I must say that the location is absolutely stunning especially on a bright sunny day as it was. However nothing else was even mediocre. The service was embarrassing with...

Where to start. Dog barked us into a corner, which at least was more conversation than the staff! After the two elderly staff had a lovers tiff, we decided to eat some pizza, which I was promptly told was the only thing available on the menu! Dave repeatedly drank most of the alma inns profits to himself behind the bar,...

Food - soggy pizza caked in cheap cheese and barely any meat on the meat "feast". The Eton Mess had no maringue in it! The baked Camembert was Lidl's finest gently warmed. I mean, come on, atleast stick a bit of garlic and rosemary in the top! Staff - took 25 minutes to bring our menus and then snapped that...

My wife and I met another couple for lunch on a sunny Wednesday in March. Getting there involved negotiating twisting, narrow country lanes leading off the A58, which felt quite adventurous. The Alma has a large car park with a beautiful rural view, though we found it mostly empty, as others have. Nevertheless, we gave The Alma a chance and...

Took my other half and my stepdaughter to celebrate my other halves birthday. The car park (and inn) were empty, the bar staff inattentive. Initial impression was that the place needed a good clean, we almost walked out but we were hopeful of the claims about the pizza's from "the regions only pizza oven". My first wine was stale and...

We was a tad worried when we arrived at The Alma Inn! The car park was empty and to us, we have always used this as a sign to turn the car and leave. But in this occasion we didn't. Even after entering we was concerned about the menu... The sign outside said Pizzeria & Restorante but was relieved to...

After wedding at our local church we had bubbly and canapes on arrival at the Alma Inn before checking in to our rooms which are absolutely superb/well maintained and scrupulously clean. Our room was No 9...the largest with a huge double bed, enormous bath and mullioned windows to 3 sides with views over the surrounding countryside. The staff are delightful...

Just spent an evening watching the fireworks at this pub! It was amazing! We had a hotdog - from the outside BBQ (£3 - a little expensive for a solo pub hot dog) and a pint (although £4 a pint - I still think a little pricey for the area) the night was brilliant! The firework display was phenomenal !!!!!...

I've never been to the Alma for food or accommodation but as a pub...wow! Go and sit out front on one of the West Riding's (admittedly rare) sunny days, and you'll wonder why anyone would ever want to be anywhere else. A simply stunning setting with good beer, attentive staff, and a convincing insight into why Yorkshire considers itself "God's...

We live in the area and although we have heard mixed reviews, we wanted to try the food for ourselves (having only had drinks here before). On arrival the pub was dead and there was a distinct lack of atmosphere. We ordered food and the starters were OK despite the fact that bits on the menu were missed off the...
