The "Ulivi Residence" is found on the main Leverano-Porto Cesareo road (21), about 5 Km from Porto Cesareo; a well-known seaside town famous for its crystal clear waters and vast white beaches comparable to those of the Caribbean. The complex consists of 20 one bedroom ground floor apartments with private verandas immersed in the green of the surrounding ancient olive trees. Every apartment has a double bedroom complete with corner kitchen, air conditioning, television and bathroom with shower and built-in hairdryer. The apartments are perfect for those who want to enjoy the stunning sea along the Ionic coast, the beautiful architecture of the city of Lecce and, at the same time, relax in the shadows of an old olive tree.

We had dinner at the Residence Gli Ulivi and had a very nice experience. The personnel makes a difference: friendly, very attentive and flexible in accomodating special requests. The food was really nice and we especially enjoyed the mixed dessert plate as we couldn't decide which one we wanted!

We spent a few nights here recently. It is about 6kms outside Porto Cesareo and a good base for visiting Gallipoli and other local places. You need a car as a bit off the beaten track. Rooms are basic and traditional with mismatched bedding but it is clean and beds are comfortable. Andreas and his family are wonderfully kind and hospitable and it is this that makes it stand out.

The Gli Ulivi is a real gem. Andrea made us feel at home, helping with beach, restaurant and local recommendations. The location was perfect for trips to Lecce, Gallipoli and daily pilgrimages to the beaches known as 'the Maldives of Puglia'. Incredible value and much better than staying in Porto Cesareo or another packed tourist town. The only thing I would improve is the bedding.

If you have time and want to enjoy a relaxing vacation italian style, I highly recommend this family run residence in Apulia. Antonella, Enrico and their son Andrea, the owners of the place, made us feel right at home right from the very beginning of our stay. We were once again travelling with our Golden retriever and dogs are not a problem here. We were given an apartment in a quiet part of their residence with a beautiful hundred year old olive tree right infront of our terrace. Our room was simply decorated, the bed was comfortable and we had a kitchen where we enjoyed several meals by cooking ourselves on several occasions after purchasing groceries from the nearby towns. (be aware that groceries can be expensive in the more touristic towns of this area so shopping in Leverano was suggested by the owners where prices were better. We did find a good butcher shop in Porto Cesareo however that had very nice meats for the barbeque at residence gli ulivi and sandwich meats for lunch on the beach. The residence is a good parting point between the towns of Porto Cesareo..the beautiful beaches of Torre Lapillo and Punto Prosciutto (paradise on earth!) which are 15 to 20 minutes drive away. June is a very good month to visit as beaches are not yet crowded and the evenings are still cooler. Do try the olive oil that the residence has to offer..very good as well as the great homemade pastries and cakes that Antonella makes for breakfast. Fresh fish can be bought from the fishermen in Porto Cesareo so I was told.. Also nice to bring home and cook on the barbeque. We just loved it here..and it was so nice to get away from the chaos and traffic of the major seaside towns..and return amongst the olive trees.
