Staying at a revitalised hydro village in the central highlands was most enjoyable. We stayed in one of the lake side villas that was well appointed, cosy, clean and quiet.(windows could have been cleaned was our only winge !) The choice of accommodation is great from camp sites to houses A perfect place to stay overnight or longer on your travels. Remember to...

Spectacular setting, situated in the heart of Tassie's highlands, providing the perfect opportunity to unwind. The Lodge is gorgeous, renovated Art Deco accommodation, the highlight of which is the Library Lounge featuring honesty bar and a 200 plus bottle whisky collection. Book a fishing tour, day spa treatment, time in the hot tub, a whisky tasting. Explore the wilderness with...

We chose to stay in The Lodge at Tarraleah for two nights as part of a holiday on the west coast. Our room was five star with a separate loungeroom, beautiful bathroom with spa and heated floors and plenty of storage for luggage in a dressing area. French doors led to a private terrace with views over the valley. We...

Wow what a special place! I loved the feel of this little art deco village the minute we drove in. The grounds for camping are beautiful (march flies are plentiful-pack aero guard). We had dinner at the lovely restaurant which was a little expensive but had a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast at the cafe was delicious too. The history of the...

When we booked a cottage at Tarraleah, I was expecting that someone had bought a line of old cottages along the main road and added some mod-cons. Actually, someone bought the whole town, and restored the Art-Deco houses to their original glory, plus some mod-cons. The village is a couple of km off the highway, and the entire place is...

Tarraleah is an old village built for hydroelectric engineers. It has separate houses, an RV park, a cafe, a restaurant, conference facilities and The Lodge. The Lodge has very comfortable rooms and a lounge/honour bar. The cafe (breakfast and lunch) and restaurant (dinner) are down the hill a bit. One wouldn't make a detour to sample the cooking but the...

Where to start? Tarraleah lodge was a wonderful surprise ending to our honeymoon. The lodge is luxurious and while we stayed only two nights, I can easily imagine spending a week there. Our room (suite, really) was generous, beautifully decorated, looking our over a rhododendron garden and the valley beyond. It was quiet and peaceful. There are walks around (including...

I didn't even know Tarralea existed until we had a car accident on the highway and limped back to the nearest phone and to find someone to help us out (we had no mobile reception). The lady in reception allowed us to use her phone while we organised assistance from Hobart. The whole process ended up taking about six hours....

We recently attended a 2 night Christmas in July weekend staying in The Lodge which has 9 rooms, all, according to the guests we met, unique and beautiful with lovely period touches and atmosphere. Previously, a few years ago we had stayed for 2 nights in a room in the Scholar's House. That was also a memorable visit. The area...

We recently had our winter wedding at Tarraleah, which was our second visit to the property/village. There are so many highlights about our wedding weekend, but (aside from marrying my darling and spending time with my friends and family) the three stand outs for me were the stunning wilderness scenery, the beautifully restored Art Deco accommodation (with fireplaces!) and the...
